Thin wires but it works

I bought these to cut and splice into a 2-pin wire, allowing me to plug it into USB power.
The cord/insulation surrounding the wires in this pigtail make it seem like it should be very thick, but in fact there are 4 wires and each one has a couple wires that are about a strand of hair.
I realize they're not meant to carry power technically, so it's probably not an issue for most.

I ended up carefully cutting away the rubber at the plug and soldering on some higher gauge wire to fit my purposes. This worked fine.

My original use was to make accessing my multi-port USB hub easier - some USB drives are "tall" and some are "short" - clumsy fingers cannot always get the drive out w/o nudging the others 100% of the time.

Also the rear ports on PCs are always fun to reach. Plug in those tiny nano-receivers or small usb drives... good luck getting them out again. Let the little cables take the wear and tear of everyday insertion/removal while the ports themselves stay safe.

Lastly there are devices that ship with "usb extension cables" that are Way Too Long. Best analogy is trying to hang a wall phone (yes, a land line) and have only a three foot phone cord - tons of slack left over. When you need a small extension without wanting to tie off 5 1/2 feet of slack, these six inch cables are the way to go.

Lastly. the price. Very good price for four of these.

UPDATE: Another IMPORTANT use for these little cables. Help with "Above Average Temperature" USB flash drives like The Finger-Crispin' Good Sandisk mini-USB3 128 gig drive. (From 2016 so beyond 30 day return period)
Was using a Samsung mini USB3 128G and a Just-Replaced-By-Sandisk-mini-USB3 128G drive with a Cables to Go 2 port USB hub.
Temp of Hub was an amazing 105 degrees. Almost like....something... was overheating it.
Plugged one of the two devices (can you guess which?) into the little extension cable to get it "further" from the hub.
Temp of hub now 84 degrees. A great improvement from 105 degrees.

As I've got FOUR Sandisk mini-USB3 flash drives (sigh) I ordered some more of these cables.

socket end is wrong somehow

The socket end is either too tight or mis-aligned somehow so it's necessary to insert the usb device at an angle and sort of wiggle and cajole until it goes in. Does not inspire confidence, but does seem to work once you get it plugged in.
