A great effort from Aiko, although I'm waiting for a full - length. Hre sound runs along the vocal flutterings of Dengue Fever, the smooth trip -hop of Tricky, and the lyrical prowess of Carol King smashed with Marley. She's feminine but not overt. Strong in her lyrics without trying too hard. And the beats are nice. The album tends to lean to the slow and melancholic, so I'm looking forward to the next one and to seeing where she grows. A very mature effort, wish there were more of her kind making music.

If you are not familiar with Ms. Jhené Aiko this EP is a great introduction to her work. It is intended to be a musical bridge between her mixtape Sailing Soul(s) and her full length album Souled Out which will be released in 2014. Its a great blend of ballads and hip hop beats. She continues to evolve as an artist without losing her signature sound. Her journey from background singer to featured artist to now album artist is inspirable. She is definitely not an overnight sensation. She writes from the heart and life experinces. Bed Peace (a love song) features another rising star in hip hop Childish Gambino actor Donald Glover. The Worst and Comfort Inn are songs about when love goes wrong. Ms. Aiko is not shy about expressing the good and bad in a relationships. I'm glad I was introduce to this star in the making. Can't wait for Souled Out

This was sitting in my Amazon recommends list for a couple of months and I kept passing it over. I had heard Jhene Aiko sing hooks on a few songs, but, had no idea what an amazing artist she is. This album has been in constant rotation for me since I purchased it a week ago.

Her lyrics are so honest and straight forward that it is almost disarming. These songs are so heart felt and heavy, but, Jhene's style and voice are so beautiful and intoxicating. It is a crazy contradiction that has me hooked.

If you are looking for music that comes from a place of real emotion, pain, joy, confusion, love - this album is a must buy. It is such a nice change of pace from the plastic and artificial music that is all around us. This is the best $6 I have ever spent on music. Do yourself a favor and sail out with Jhene Aiko.

Outstanding EP. I can listen to this on repeat, and it seems like the first time I've heard the album each time. I love how innocent her voice is, yet how mature the lyrical content is. My only problem with the CD is that it doesn't have more songs. :-(
