This is the woman police inspector: " Life is complicated. She toasted two pieces of bread at the same time. It was more complicated than toasting one slice"
And later: "She saw her hand ring the doorbell". And this is a police inspector?
Save yourself grief and money: don't buy this book!
Without the endless descriptions of the blue sky, the smell of gas in the air, the red houses, rocks, telephone booth, the figures behind curtains, Winter's terrible tastes in music, e.g. Lucinda Williams, and the "...doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo" of Metheny's guitars, the book would have been half the length but still disjointed and tedious to read.
This was the first book by Mr. Edwardson that I have read and I think it is also the last.
