Cyrena Shows is the author of multiple children's books, as well as a writer of novels, short stories, poetry, and plays. She is a member of the Mississippi Writers Guild and Mississippi Professional Educators. Cyrena graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.A. in English. She studied creative writing while there, though she can remember writing and illustrating her own book as early as six years old! By day, she teaches high school, and she also homeschools her daughters, one of which has co-authored a children's book with her.

* The Lucille, a chicken, Ranch, bacon, garlic, & tomato pizza from Lost Pizza Co. is her favorite pizza in the world.

* She plays several instruments - piano, clarinet, guitar, violin, and the tin whistle.

* She never reads just one book at a time.

* The place she's traveled to that she loved the most was the island of Virgin Gorda, which is featured in a poem in her book Embrace the Beauty.

* Her favorite genres to read are horror and classic Gothic novels - the creepier, the better.

It was snowing so hard the 2 of them saw heard & something green/red coming toward them.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary; age) Christmas storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s Christmas movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

I was so excited to add a new Christmas book to my children's collection! Sailor's Christmas Sweater did not disappoint! The story is sweet and covers the two main characters' fears of not finding their way home and how they used Christmas magic to overcome those fears. The artwork is beautiful. I love the discussion questions, because critical thinking is important to me for my children. My two oldest (9 and 7) were really excited to see the art projects that were included and have already told me that we will be making ornaments inspired by them.

When Sailor befriends the penguin Max and they both get lost in a blizzard, the two friends need to find their way back home. On their journey they meet Santa's elves, which makes this book particularly magical. Overall, the story is lovely and meaningful, and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I can highly recommend!
