first usb scope i tried, this works nicely, i have some benchtop scopes but wanted this to check out automotive issues, i use it on a 10 inch tablet pc and software is easy to use, you can record any size file you need, probes are decent, been using this for couple months now and no problems. Had my doubts at first because of the price compared to others for sale and glad i took a chance, not something i need to use everyday so didn't want to spend couple hundred dollars or more for just occasional use. Since it works off the 5 volt usb port if you need to check a higher voltage you need to switch the probe to x10 which threw me off one day as i forgot about this but it does limit you to 50 volts. You could use a x100 probe if need to read a higher voltage up to 500, but my other scopes do this so i am happy with this one's capability's.

Great Purchase thank you SainSmart. This item is perfect for you average electronics Hobbyist. Its just as it is described it is a medium performance Oscilloscope, with a great performance:price Ratio. If you are expecting a professional grade Oscilloscope don't bother. But if you want something that analyzes small electronics Circuits this is a great tool. The updated software listed by amazon is extremely easy to configure, I have a windows 8.1 Asus 11.6inch laptop that does not have a CD Drive and the updated software works great with it, its basically plug n' play. So to answer some peoples questions no you do not need a cd drive to buy this product, you just download the software from the link provided on this page and save it to your hardrive. After you have extracted the file from the zipped folder to your Hdd their is basically no more configuration needed for a windows 8 computer. This device is extremely compact and portable if you have a laptop computer, i would say more so then a regular bench O-Scope. The Probes it came with are very high quality i was very impressed
with them. The software has a very easy to use and intuitive interface, it probably took me less than 10 mins to get the hang of all the controls. The ability to save and record your wave forms is a great feature. Basically i could not have been more impressed with an oscilloscope that i bought for $67 with free 2 day shipping for analyzing your average hobbyist digital electronics circuits. I would recommend this to absolutely any hobbyist, if you are a professional looking for a scope with precise accuracy, i would look elsewhere but for everyone else you wont be disappointed.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with this Oscope. I got it because I was tired of lugging a lab oscope to my desk every time I needed to check a signal. It has reduced the frequency of such trips, but has not eliminated them. (I work in a computer engineering research lab).

Pros:
tiny
cheap
easy to save records

Cons:
Trigger function only works on fairly gentle slopes (this one is a serious problem -- square waves are kind of important, but this oscope has a lot of trouble seeing them!)
Low support -- the company is not super helpful
significant delay (about 1 second)
only 2 channels

All in all, it's pretty good for what you pay. It would be a good starter scope for a hobbyist, and it works pretty well as a supplementary scope in a professional lab. That said, I'm getting frustrated with its shortcomings, and am considering saving up for a low-end freestanding Rigol.

I was looking for a first price PC oscilloscope and I was hesitating between Hantek and SainSmart. I could not find any review Saintsmart but The software looked nicer from pictures and SainSmart seems to develop quiete a few different models so I gave a try.
The hardware is very compact (great advantage compared to benchmark oscilloscope) and the quality of the probes is excellent.
The software is easy to use. I works as a basis oscilloscope or as a recorder. There is also a trigger function that I haven't been able to use yet.
About the oscilloscope performance, The sampling rate is of course not that great but I guess that could be said about most PC oscilloscope that could cost 3or 4 times the price. It is is definitly a great product for the money and for the people ok with the performance of pc oscilloscope

Really great product, really bad documentation.
This desperately needs some third-party software, and/or some third-party documentation. I hear that Source Forge has a package for Sainsmart USB scopes: http://sourceforge.net/projects/logic140/
It does almost everything I want, but is kind of hard to figure out. The triggering is especially strange.
Still, it is better than my old Tek scope, because you can e-mail a screen grab, or put the capture parms into a document easily.

After using it on a project for three weeks: The triggering is really flaky. It looks like they do not really have hardware triggering. It looks like they just go data grabs, and then decide (in software) if the trigger event was satisfied. This works OK for highly repetitive waveforms, with a repeat time between 1ms and 100 ms. For capturing glitches, not so much. The claimed sample rate is much too high. I have trouble getting an accurate picture of a 100nsec digital pulse: It often shows as a half-height triangle pulse, and frequently misses the pulse entirely. The actual bandwidth of the input appears to be between 5-10 MHz.

I strongly suspect that better software would fix most of the issues with this device. They really need to open-source it.
