About the Author
Eugene Platt is one of the increasingly rare residents of Charleston, South Carolina, who was born and grew up there. As evidenced in "Saint Andrew's Parish" as well as in several collections of poems, the Carolina Lowcountry informs much of his work. After a happy childhood, he served in the Army with the 11th Airborne and 24th Infantry Divisions. Next, he earned degrees from the University of South Carolina, Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. His poems have appeared in many literary magazines and some have been choreographed. He has given over 100 public readings of his work across the nation. Now that "Saint Andrew's Parish" has been published, he is again focusing on poetry and is hard at work on a new collection of poems, "Nuda Veritas" (anticipated for spring 2016).
