Revell's talents here are the key to watching the film. I've spent hours watching the DVD just to hear the music since my original audio cassette disintergrated. I'd like to find a cd version, but it's not currently available. Anyway, back to the music. If one listens carefully, one hears the layers of Simon Templar's past, present and future being revealed by Revell's masterful compositions. It is unusual to find such depth in film scores today and, as a result, Mr. Revell is probably not as well known as he should be. Just listen to the opening title sequence and the love scene between Simon and Emma in the restaurant as they describe one another. The music explains more than the dialog.

This and "Conspiracy Theory" are, to my mind, the greatest modern action scores. A poignant, playful, perfect love theme, brilliant action music unlike anything else I've heard and the added bonus of the music from the finale which was cut after the film did badly with test audiences. (Of course, the fact that Elizabeth Shue died halfway through the original version might have had something to do with the average viewer not liking it) Without this ending, the film never seemed to conclude musically, hear Mr. Revell's fantastic music here and see how it would have.

Compared to all the glowing tributes that other reviewers gave this soundtrack, my personal reaction to it is luke warm, at best. I generally like Graeme Revell for his exciting music, reminiscent of (but not quite as good as) that of Robert Rodriguez. However, this soundtrack is, with a few exceptions, very understated to the point of being almost boring. I hope the positive reviewers don't go crazy and write hateful statements about what a tasteless idiot I am.......this is just my opinion and, like you, I have every right to it even if you disagree.

The score is fantastic! Having already heard the various artists soundtrack I was compelled to listen to this one. However, it has limited availability in the UK, but those friendly people at Virgin obtained a copy from the US for me. The score takes you straight into the film and as you listen you can see the film being replayed in your mind's eye. No Saint fan should be without this one.

I recently had the pleasure of watching the movie The Saint, starring Val Kilmer and Elizabeth Shue. I enjoyed every minute of it and in particular the romantic scenes between the two leads which I found to be so convincing it was difficult to imagine they were actually acting! This was made even more enjoyable by the hauntingly beautiful music score. The scene in the Shelley memorial, the country Inn scene where the master of secrecy and disguise who has done his homework on Emma and astounds her with his (rehearsed) observations on her life and work is then astonished by her non-rehearsed and very insightful responses about him. It is one of the most wonderfully acted romantic scenes ever! Finally, the eagerly awaited reunion, close to the end of the movie, gives the film the conclusion that everyone wants. A happy one, made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful score. I scoured the Internet to find this music score and now have the pleasure of playing it wherever I go and of course, when I watch the movie again, and I do often. Fine actors, fine direction, a good storyline, romance, action, adventure and a excellent music soundtrack and score. Everything most movie-goers enjoy.

One of my favourite scores of all time (along with Thelma and Louise and Gladiator). All the tracks from score give vivid flashes of scenes from the film. Thats why I love this score (precisely for the comely and ideal presence of Elizabeth Shue and especially Val Kilmer!). I love the character of Simon Templer (Kilmer absolutely gorgeous as Templer)...mysterious, gothic (in some ways), complex, cunning (stunning!), smart and intelligent chameleon - which almost all the tracks perfectly convey. The 'main title', 'shelley monument' and 'the love theme' tracks are my fav. I used to watch some scenes over and over again on video because I really loved the music (and Kilmer...sigh). I dont need to now...I have this CD. Immaculate scoring Revell!!! This is a CD for any twisted Saint fan like me who wants a constant reminder of the gorgeous Templer and the film. My ideal romantic/action movie with the ideal and beautiful music to go with it...perfect!

Beautiful music. I originally purchsed a sound track cd years ago righr after seeing the movie, but the contents were all loud musics. I was ver very diappointed until recently I found this music from youtube. Now I purchased the Other CD, and I am so happy. This dealer also described this cd as used, but looks like new! Thanks.

I bought this about 6 years ago when the movie first came out. Had to wait for the score to enter the scene, not the soundtrack that so many clerks mistakenly assumed I was seeking. While it doesn't contain all the techno you like in the film (such as Dream within a Dream by Dreadzone) it contains the recurring anthem (done numerous times in interesting ways) and the various other pieces that followed the movie. Great standalone, or companion piece to the film!
