I have used and worn out two AV8R-01 joysticks(Saitek PS33). It was time to replace the last one so I tried the latest version and the first one I received failed to install the drivers to my computer. You were so kind to replace it in no time at all.The new product installed correctly but it was not the replacement I needed. This I think is because this XBOX-360/pc is more formatted for Xbox than pc. The HAT button takes you to other places than the old model that is a view control.If you use the older model you will not be happy with the new one . Thank you all at Amazon for helping me to fix my bad mistake. I keep trying to buy a new PS33 online but I can not find one execpt from EBAY for twice the price. The term unopenened in the box alone make me wary. I hope someone at Amazon will alert me when I can get one new again.

Most bang for your buck!

I can be very indecisive when it comes to my electronics but I can honestly say I very happy with the AV8R-02. I love being able to twist the joystick for yaw or control of the rear rotor. My friend and I were playing Apache Air Assault (GREAT GAME!) and he was flying with his overly expensive Ace combat 6 joystick and was having a hard time being that he cant twist his joystick to control the rear rotor. Needless to say he could not keep up with me and my Saitek.

The only cons in my opinion are its flimsy design but hey, for a joystick under 60 bucks what do you expect. After a good amount of time on the AV8R-02 it begins to squeak and make all kinds of noise and sometime while twisting I feel Like Im gonna muscle the joystick right off but considering I twist it really hard, it totally holds up and withstands my abuse. I really wish they had installed buttons on each end of the left and right throttle control because In H.A.W.X. you have to let go of the throttle and fumble to press one of the face buttons to launch flares. I wish the console flight sims would be more versatile as well, would be very nice to map the buttons to my preferences. Come on xbox, this is the next gen of gaming, get with the program.

Need look no further for a Flight Stick

I did a lot of research for Xbox flight sticks and this not only met all the criteria that I wanted from a stick, but far surpassed it. Was very pleased with the responsiveness of the controls. Really was not looking to spend a whole bunch of money to play Hawk and a few other flight games. This was not only reasonably priced but, seems to much better than the price I paid for it. Would recommend this for a first time flyer or an advanced flyer as all the controls you need are right at your finger tips. Before I got this stick I always shy ed away from the flight games as they were just to confusing to play with the standard controller. Now I feel like I am flying with the best.

This is a lightweight control but very well balanced. You need to put it at a level where your arm remains horizontal or below. It is calibrated very well out of factory but I doubt that would last over a few years of use.

It works just like that with MS Flight Sim X Deluxe. I did not have to install Saitek driver for it. Probably I would get more options to reassign the buttons with Saitek app but haven't tried that yet. By the way, this is on Windows 7 RC Build 7100.

Cheap Stick

This has got to be the worst joystick on the market since the atari system. The dead zones are not the issue, although they are there. The worst part is that it is cheaply made. The one I had broke within the first hour of game time. The handle broke off where it goes into the housing. It didn't snap off from stress, it just came off in my hand. After spending $75 to get it I figured I'd be gentle with it. That didn't help. I've played flight sims for years on PC and thought I'd give the 360 a go. If you want a stick that will last a bit longer than a few flights, set your sights on anything but this one. It is very cheaply made and isn't constructed well enough to have it given away. Do not ... I repeat do NOT waste your money on this junk.

Best I could find for Xbox360

I'm a longtime PC fan and have recently been sitting more in the recliner and enjoying some XBox titles. I use a Saitek x-52 pro on the PC and seen they had a joystick for the XBox. With the recent title "Birds of Steel" on the XBox360 released I knew I wanted a joystick for the full experience. I was not disappointed with the Aviator-02! I believe this title will be "World of Planes" on the PC in the near future. Excellent FLIGHT game!

I would think a stand alone throttle wouldn't work to well while relaxing on the couch or in a recliner anyways so the throttle on stick is really not an issue. The base is kinda light so placing the throttle forward as they have, I rest it on my lap and the force of my hand resting on the throttle keeps it in place. You have the option to remove a center piece and use it as a two throttle stick if you so desire.

I found it also works just fine on the PC!

Right out of the box on M-1 setting it worked as expected within Birds of Steel. I also use it in a few other titles. Dead zones for "me" seem like a non issue. Most software has adjustments if you need it..mine don't.

All the XBox360 controller buttons are there and default setups work fine. Even for racing games with the twist it becomes second nature. The top hat switch works just fine for looking around while Flying or driving although I wish titles as good as Birds of Steel included a kinect option for head tracking.

If your comming from the PC and want a solid Joystick for the XBox you just found it!
A heavier base and a two stage trigger would have made this a perfect 5 star, but I can live with this.
