Now, it's easy to sit across the room from my tv, and play these games with a nice wireless device, and not have to worry about anyone coming in and tripping over wires. It's a great value for what you get.
SERIOUS RANGE PROBLEM.
It's a real plus having the extra two thumb buttons but I think there is a corded version. Get that instead. I have the USB trasmitter plugged into the back of my system which is on the floor 2 feet from me. I have to hold the controller under the table to get a solid connection.
I wish that Logitech would come out with another one that has more buttons and is more programable. This controller is priced about right.
Two thing i wish they were better.
1. Sticks are not quite sensitive.
2. Is does not have vibration.. thought you should know it from its technical details. :P
These controllers have been thrown around, beat up on, and just keep on ticking. Battery life is very good and they will work well with NiMH rechargeable batteries. One thing to consider is that the wireless USB radios that you plug into your computer work best if you have a clear line of sight to the controller. If you plug them in behind your HTPC you will experience erratic behavior and commands will fail to register, so maintain line-of-sight and you will be OK.
I would buy these again, I have shopped around for new gamepads and as far as I can tell there's nothing on the market that surpasses these. They are discontinued now so good luck finding some (I see they are almost a hundred bucks apiece, I paid $40 for the pair).
I bought the P2900 x1 and P990 x3 for emulation (there I said it). They work great and due to the generic layout they work well for almost any emulation you want to do from NES up through N64. There are enough buttons to go around and you can setup the buttons to near perfect alignment to the original emulated system.
Overall a great controller... but I do have a few wishes that would bring this to a "pefect buy".
--would love to see some "triggers" under the 4 shoulders
--would like to see 2 buttons placed near the center to emulate "star/select"
--really wish they would put rumble/force feedback into the controller no matter what and simply give me an "on/off" switch to choose if I want to run my batteries down or not.
--Lastly... the analog sticks, although nice... feel a bit too much like plastic, if they'd upgrade the analogs there'd really be something special about this controller.
If you want a controller that has a little "more" than all those other PS2 controller clones, then you can't go wrong between the P990 or P2900... enjoy.
