Innovation and Integrity. To Us, Nothing Matters More.
These convictions come first. Innovation means building products that will continue to lead and define the industry in terms of creativity and utility; it means constantly asking ourselves how we can be better. For the past 25 years, we’ve released industry-shifting innovations and worked with some of the most renowned custom and independent knife designers in the world. What really ties it all together though, is our true guiding light.
We are guided by integrity—this is critical to how we’ve chosen to do business. It means interacting with our customers and each other honestly and directly. It also means building products that perform reliably and a brand that behaves consistently, decade after defining decade. We were born in Oregon, and our knives and tools truly reflect the rugged terrain from which they come. That, to us, makes all the difference.

A true scandi grind on a 1075 carbon steel blade gives you an efficient cutting tool for all tasks. Just grab hold of the walnut handle and draw it from the thick, high-quality leather sheath. The only thing stopping you from getting out there is…you. When Leamington, Ontario, Canada designer Abe Elias was creating the Saker, he found that giving it a proper heat treat and blade geometry as well as an ergonomic handle, enables longer periods of comfortable use. It’s an approach born from working with hand tools most of his life. This fixed blade survival knife is the go-to blade for those who rely only on their tool and skills to keep them alive in the outdoors. Bushcrafters everywhere will be amazed at the knife’s skills. The example I received is a beast of a cutter. Seriously, this knife just glides through wood. Out of the box, mine didn't have a "perfect" edge. It almost felt rounded. But, ten passes per side on a 1,200 grit stone brought it to a razor edge. No honing. No stropping. Just a quick pass on the stone. And I immediately took it to a piece of seasoned oak by my fireplace to see what it could do. I don't ever expect too much of a knife on that wood since it's just so tough, but the Saker blew through it and took a sliver off as thick as a pencil and as long as my forearm.
Since then, I've used it to carve a spoon, a net needle, and to cut up some celery and onions. This knife begs to be used. It'll take you only a couple of minutes to get used to the blade profile/geometry, But once you do you'll be fighting the urge to cut EVERYTHING with it. I wouldn't baton with this or any knife this size unless it were just some small kindling. That's not what it's designed to do. I have other tools for that, tools made for the purpose of splitting wood. Don't try and make this knife something it isn't, and you'll get a ton of enjoyment out of it. It's a woodcrafting machine. Use it that way and put a smile on your face!
seems just the right size for me. You can just tell and feel the difference in a high quaility knife.
