We've all heard the old saying about "a spoonful of sugar" making the medicine go down, but as describes sales, it takes more than just lots of Project slides and lots of thinking about the plan. When you get down to it, it just involves an ancient part of our brain that says "yes" or "no," the amygdala. This is the first part of the brain to develop and has all of the instinctive stuff we use like breathing, smiling, talking, walking upright without dragging our knuckles on the ground and so on. Once we've filtered all of the noise that the marketeers throw at us, it comes down to just to choices that this ancient part of the brain makes, yes and no.
What you want is the yes part and Rhondalynn shows us how to get there with a minimum of fuss, strain and some clever writing. With as many books through her word-processor as she has, one wonders why she still worries about things like selling, but she does and we are better for it. If you follow her advice through the 220-page book you'll find that, if you are involved in sales, you'll have more in the "yes" column than in the "no."
I only have to wonder where was this book when I was selling cars, it would have helped and I might even have made a reasonable living at it.
Her points are laid out in an easy to follow format - 7 Stimuli, 7 Steps & 7 Impact Boosters. Her stories provided great examples of how real business have used her tools to make a difference.
It was hard to pull myself away from the book - as I was anxious to get more of her great analytical tools.
I also have a better understanding of my own decision making process. Great read!
