I love this wax. I just started using it last summer.
It doesn't come with any strips. You apply it like regular wax, and wait for it to solidify a little bit. You dont have to flatten it out to get it to stick to the hairs like you do with the cloth/paper strips. Thats because this is a better type of wax. Its special at getting hairs down under...
It comes with a small pair of trimming scissors, a few popsicle stick applicators, a cloth pair of underwear...which i dont understand lol...and wax, and this azulene oil.
The oil is for getting the little bits of wax off after you're done. You can apply it using a cotton ball, and the wax is so easy to remove.
It lasts for a couple weeks. I don't really keep track. Maybe like a month depending on how fast your hair grows.
And yes, its gonna be painful. But its something that you get used to. I actually like to wax now. And my husband likes it also! :)
I've used wax strips, hot wax rollers and one very painful instance with nair to attempt a self brazilian, but they often left a considerable amount of hair behind, especially the finer type and were difficult to maneuver into delicate/small areas. This stuff removed EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE (not just bikini line, which is all the product is legally intended for - just be careful and don't burn delicate skin!). I was so pleasantly surprised at the completeness of it. Aside from a few stray hairs, I didn't have to go over any area twice - which saved a lot of time. I love getting a spa wax, and nothing will compare to the ease and thoroughness of one, but this is a great way to take care of business in between trips when you're on a budget. Unexpected bonus: it smells pretty nice!
Tips: Sit on an old towel, t-shirt or newspaper. I'm afraid my bathmat will forever have a little spot of wax ground into it and I'm a little afraid of what it will do to a dryer.
-Make your layers at least 1/8 inch. If it's too thin, it doesn't work as well.
-Use your nail to peel up a little tab to pull from, and wait until the wax is solid but not completely hard (it says the wax should still be soft, but if you pull too early it just comes apart like taffy. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy).
-Work in small sections - it's less messy, less painful, and easier to manage.
-Gloves might be a good idea if you can work well with them (tighter fitting is probably better) but I didn't have much problem cleaning up with the azulene oil.
I started with my bikini line, because I figured that would be the most painful. The Brazilian Bikini Wax heated to a perfect consistency in 30 seconds without any problems. I applied it in a one-inch by two-inch strip to my upper/inner-thigh bikini hair and waited for about fifteen seconds for it to get to a hard-ish consistency and pulled. And it HURT! It hurt like so many obscenities that I cannot post here. Not only did it hurt terribly, but it only removed about 80% of the hairs, and it's not like strips, which (I would learn later) you can reapply to get the stragglers. It was sticky and messy, and I had to scrape it out from under my finger nails. I figured, beginner's luck. Or, complete lack of luck. I tried again on the other side with the exact same (horrifically painful, slightly hairy) results. At that point, I figured, maybe it's the wax. I let myself heal for two days.
Two days later, the bikini line had red bumps where the Brazilian Wax had been applied, though it was no longer painful. I plucked out the hairs that remained, and decided that I would now start to wax my legs using the Smart Wax.
Well, the Smart Wax was extremely successful. Again, it heated to perfect consistency in 30 seconds or so, was easy to apply, then slap a strip on, rub the strip, and pull. It removed ALL the hairs I had covered, save one or two, which were removed on a second rub/pull. It was virtually mess-free.Read more ›
