Great shoes but Warning: They run way too small. I am a size 12 in every shoe type and brand. I've found that all Salomons run a little small but these are really small. Consider ordering 1/2 size larger. I might actually have to order a 13. **Make sure you get free returns!!

They took a few days to brake in, but they are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I used them as my every. I'm on my feet all day and often on asphalt. I baught them April 19 and In less than 2 months the tread is less than 30% in the middle. You can see in the picture the difference between the middle of the foot and the lugs on the toe. They used to be the same length. I would give it 5 stars but the bottom is deteriorating very quickly.

Very comfortable but not very durable. Received them on 4/1917 and it is now 6/14/17 and both shoes are ripping out at the outside of the toe. Talked to a lot of people who have bought them and they have had the same problem. When you try to get ahold of Salamon you stay on hold for ever till finally you get s message that they are closed for the day. They say they have warranty but don't know how you could ever redeem it.

Certain that this is a counterfit product. I have a lot of salomon gear, all of which has been bombproof. These shoes are clearly of a poor quality. The inserts are obviously not genuine ortholite, just some cheap sole with an "ortholite" sticker, that came off after my first run in these. I have a pair of genuine ortholite soles from my last pair of salomons, and they are drastically different and of a finer quality than what came with this pair of shoes. On a more catastophic note, one of the draw string loops on these counterfeits broke within less than 3 months of use, during my race yesterday. Also, I was not sent the shoe I asked for. I purchased a speed cross 4 and rcvd a speed cross 3. Unimpressed all around, and totally skeptical. Id like a refund.

*** Best OCR Shoe Hands Down ***

I bought these Speedcross 4's for multiple Spartans & a Tough Mudder this year. I can say, without a doubt, these are THE BEST shoes for OCR use. I ran in the Speedcross 3's last year and while I was very happy with them, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try the newest style. The biggest changes that I can tell are:

1. The toe box is SLIGHTLY wider than the prior years. This works to my advantage as I feel they fit more comfortably.
2. The tread on the bottom has a very minor change, but makes a big difference in stability. The "V" pattern is now the same all the way across the bottom of the shoe. The 3's had a 1/2 V along the outside perimeter which could cause a little unstableness on rocky terrain. I've noticed greater balance with the new design.
3. The cutout on the back of the shoe around the base of the ankle is just a little lower. Not a big design difference but makes the shoe overall more comfortable for long runs.

These things were ready to go right out of the box as well. No need to break them in. I went for a 4 mile trail run the weekend they arrived and my feet felt great the whole way. No blisters or soreness whatsoever.

I will deffanetly be buying another pair of these in the future without hesitation. There is, in my opinion, no close second.

Great, comfortable shoe - doesn't hold up to daily wear

I love these shoes. Comfortable, breathable, quick to lace with a toddler and baby at home. I wear them almost daily for work.

When my speed cross 3 developed a hole in under a year, I was still happy enough to go ahead and purchase the speed cross 4, hoping perhaps the issue I had was an exception. The 3's would still make great mowing shoes.

It was not an exception.

The speed cross 4 developed a hole in the same spot on the upper in under a year, by the right pinky toe right next to where the toe bumper ends.

Both these pairs are worn as daily casual shoes - a fair bit of walking, no running, no mudding. I work in IT, so they spend most their time in an office setting.

Realized there's a 2 year warranty tonight and submitted claims directly to Salomon, for both since each were purchased since 10/2016.

All I want in a shoe, beyond everything that makes these great shoes, is for them to hold up to a year of light use at this price point.

Size 8 in Asics, went with size 8 in salomon

First of all the fit of these on me are amazing. Received these just in time for an intense 14 mile out and back day trip with a 9200 elevation gain (loose dirt at the bottom, sharp rock in the middle and shale at the top) and these functioned fantastically. After I got home I inspected the bottoms for wear. They looked perfect with an exception to the inner side of the right shoe. It looks like there is a manufactoring defect in the foam of the shoe and the rubber sole doesnt cover the bottom completely.
My knees hurt pretty bad by the time I got home and decided I needed to break them in more so I went on a 10 mile walk. Now the knobs on the soles are starting to round over.

What they are good for:
Loose ground
Steep surfaces
Variable terrain

What they are bad for:
Pavement! You will be lucky to get a month out of them
Sandstone (have not tried but considering the pavement...)

Likes:
Laces. (The drawstring lace works fantastic) there is also a pouch in the tongue of the shoe to tuck the excess
Stickieness of the tred
Breathable
Rubber extends about an inch up the side which prevents them from ripping
Fit

Dislikes
Tread life on hard surfaces
Defect in right shoe (will most likely be the cause of failure)

I will update this post once I wear them out

Lightweight and very Comfortable

This is an awesome shoe. I use it for just everyday wear as I don't run in them. They are very lightweight and comfortable. They breath well and keep my feet cool. The one thing I don't like very much is the lace system. They do not have the typical tie laces, they have the slide lock which creates a lot of slack that flops around when wearing them.
