Suede Leather Upper and Lightweight Midsole for Stability
The Quest's split suede leather and textile upper securely holds the foot in place, reducing strain on the toes during downhill sections. The tall shaft protects against ankle injuries, while a molded EVA midsole reduces overall boot weight.
Waterproof Gore-Tex for Year-Round Hiking
The Quest features breathable, seam-sealed Gore-Tex lining that reduces hot spots so your feet stay comfortable in warmer temperatures as well as in cold, wet conditions.
Contagrip Outsole and 4D Chassis for Sturdy Grip
A rugged non-marking Contagrip outsole contains an ascending lug pattern in the front and a braking pattern in the rear to provide extra traction for rough terrain. The 4D advanced chassis between the midsole and outsole enhances stability by reducing ankle strain and controlling flex.
OrthoLite Footbed Keeps Feet Comfortable
The OrthoLite footbed is designed with cushioning foam to reduce friction, keeping your feet comfortable as you run. EVA in the heel provides extra cushion for heel striking.
Gilly Lacing System for Customized Fit
Gilly lacing on the Quest 4D GTX boots ensures a customized fit for a wide variety of feet. A gusseted tongue relieves lace pressure and keeps trail debris out of your boot, while rubber toe and heel caps protect sensitive areas from abrasion.

One of my favorite parts of the design is the grippy gromets at the sides between the foot and the ankle that tether the laces in place so that you can choose different lace tension at the foot and the ankle and there is no slipping. No extra knots to try to isolate the 2 parts!
There was zero break in for me. I brought them for the weekend in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, hiked 15 miles with 5000ft of elevation and not a single blister or area of rubbing. Fantastic.
They provided enough support on both the accent and the decent scrambling up rocky chimneys and fabulous grip from the soles. I could feel just enough of the rocky trail yet not too much.
For the price, the light blue at almost 1/2 off was a steal.
So took these boots to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks and hiked 40 miles and 7000 feet in less than a week and they were stars. No blisters. Good in the dry dusty parts, the wet muddy parts, the steep steep trails both up and down, and not one blister or rub anywhere.
Sorry I didn't buy 2 while they were on sale.
*handled steep ups & downs, slippery leaves/rocks/streams, wet bogs, dry sandy areas....
*great lateral support (I have a weak and former severly high-sprained ankle)
*good toe-room- never hit front on those steep downs
*great lacing lock enabled me to customize how tight I wanted the foot or ankle compartments seperately
*size is accurate- do not size up for wool trekking socks.
*OUT OF THE BOX ONTO THE TRAIL- no break in (I thought my fiance was going to BURST with vociferous disapproval)
THE most comfortable hiking boots I've ever owned... We're both impressed!
On the final day of walking (day 8) on the steepest descent of the trip I noticed that one of the shoelaces had snapped right at the top of the toe box. I should have stopped and put in a spare lace, but when I pulled (quite hard) on the lace I realised that they were held firmly in place in the next lace loops. Given I wasn't in an easy place to take off my gaiter and boot, and that they were both so covered in mud it would have been difficult, and that we were really quite close to getting to the bottom and had to hit a low tide mark - well I decided to just keep walking. I got down to the beach, walked along rocks for about 30 mins and then did 5kms to the hut and they still didn't budge. It wasn't until I cleaned them up and then walked 30 mins out to the beach before they finally gave in (just before I got in the plane!). At that point I just pulled them through and tied a knot at the bottom and it got me home again!
On one hand I wasn't happy that the lace broke - it wasn't that worn or old and I wouldn't have expected it, however I was impressed that they held together for me given they did break!
Then only thing I can think of that we didn't walk in was snow, but I have walked in shallow snow on one of the previous walks for a while, and didn't have a problem however I will say that my feet run hot!
I wear the boots with medium crew smart wool socks and I did get one blister on the arch side of my foot and a few on my toes resulting in a couple of bad toenails. I don't think they are the result of the boots, I am going to try wearing a liner sock next time and see if that helps.
Overall I am really happy with the boots, but I don't think they are going to return to the lovely blue they were before I started this tramp even though I have spent some time cleaning them up!
perform well on all kinds of terrain and in the wet
gave good ankle support
lacing system allowed tightening up but leaving the ankle with a little more room
keep the water in once they get wet
