3.0 out of 5 stars Great Customer Service/ Not So Great Boots. (Video Review)
By Steven Housden on April 2, 2015

Update 6/19/2015
I am bumping up my 2 star review to a 3..Only because Everything about this boot is great except the fact that it develops holes in the toe box...Both pair did the same thing, in the same place and only after 1 month of daily use.
I waited a few more weeks to do my second review on the boots because I had some time off of work and wearing these boots. I was really hoping the second pair of boots would last a little longer. Unfortunately they did not. They developed the exact same holes in the toe box and they leaked like a siv. I have provided a video review to help show where they have the holes. IMPORTANT NOTE: I need to state that Yes I walk a lot in one day, More than the average person. I am comparing these to other boots that I have owned and walked in for the same amount of time. I was getting 5 to 6 months out of my other boots that cost half of what these cost. The soles simply wore out and needed replaced. I wanted to state that to be fair because my wife brought it to my attention last night that I do walk more than the average person so I needed to be fair with my review. Like I said I really wanted to love this boot but I cannot walk 6 miles a day with wet feet. Once the holes start to develop to water pours in. I will shop around for my next pair of boots. I hope this review helps someone out there. Be safe & Happy Shopping!!

Original Review:
Let me start by saying that the Salomon Customer service is top notch!! They took care of me with absolutely no hassles. This boot on the other hand is junk. I work for the USPS and I needed a good boot with ankle support and some water protection. These looked like they fit the bill. The first day I had them on, the right shoe started popping in the heel on every step. This is where Customer Service comes in. I called them while I was out carrying mail and they sent me the warranty info to my email and within a couple of weeks I got a new pair of boots in the mail, free of charge. I kept wearing the boots I had, listening to the popping noise all day, but thats all I had, so I wore them. See the pictures I have provided. The weak point on these boots are on the side of the toe box. FOLKS...these boots are 4 WEEKS OLD (Delivered Mar 2, 2015) and there is a HOLE in both boots in the same spot. I had water pouring in my boots all day from this. Just walking through wet grass let in enough water that my feet were soaked within a few hours. These boots are selling for upwards of 150 bucks on Amazon and listed even higher on the Salomon website. These boots belong in the 50 dollar club not the 150 club. My background in boots consists of 2 pairs of Merrells and 2 pairs of Colombia's, all 4 were less than 100 bucks and outlasted these boots by 5 months each.

In conclusion, I walk about 6 miles a day through grass in a pretty flat town. I DO NOT, by any means, HIKE my route. There are no hills or rocks or any crazy terrain to deal with...I walk from yard to yard in the grass, around the landscaping and an occasional driveway/sidewalk. THATS IT. These boots cost 170 dollars and can't last 3 weeks in that terrain...How in the heck are they going to last if you are actually "Hiking"? I have never been so disappointed in a pair of boots since I started this job. Im sorry guys but I cannot, by any means, recommend these boots to anyone for anything other than casual use in the yard raking leaves or something. I am going to wear the new set of boots they sent me and I will update this review after a month of use.

Pros: Good looking boot
Comfortable right out of the box.
"Water Resistant" NOT "Waterproof " Companies need to learn the difference and stop misleading people.
Customer Service was a pleasure to deal with. (when is the last time you heard that?)

Cons: Durability is a 1 STAR (for a 160 dollar pair of boots, I would think they would last more than a month) Thats a deal breaker for me.
Quality Control
They do not offer a WIDE boot. Its a standard size , so if you have wide feet, don't even think about it.
