Buck was a waterman, he ran the family business with his sons but they still weren't as close as he wished them to be. His children didn't listen nor respect him, he was lonely; missing his late wife to help him especially when it came to their youngest daughter, Bristol.
Alice Perry was the owner of The Rusty Clam, the local bar. She was a single mother to a teenage son, her ex husband was abusive. Her father helped her out when she nearly lost everything a few years back.
When her ex showed back up threatening her, Perry did the only thinkg she could. She asked Buck for help sure enough the man was reluctant at first whuch was understandable in the end he caved in cause it was the first time he saw Perry in such a vulnerable state.
Perry had a crush on Buck Wallace for the longest of time, she occasionally flirted with him but he never made a move on her. They had a remarkable chemistry as they spend more time together, Buck found out things about Perry that interested him in ways he hadn't been about another woman since Layla's death.
To help keep her son safe Perry was looking to sell her establishment, there was just a tiny problem. Her bar could only be sold to a family since Buck wanted to buy the bar, Perry made him an proposal that was a win-win for them both.
Once again he refused her but his refusal was haunting him, Buck and Perry gave into their attraction. There were some heartbroken moments after yet it was wonderful to see Buck fight for Perry. The way Buck's children had his back showed how much they love him even though he thought he was failing them.
SALT WATER WOUNDS is the first book in Jennifer Foor's new family series name OYSTER COVE. It was enthralling, marvelous, fun and filled with love.
Mrs Foor has a way of getting to you where it counts the most, in the heart. You connect with the characters, they were moments when I just had to stop and cry before continuing to read. I recommend you all to give this book a try, you won'tbe disappointed.
Perry does a great job of running the bar and raising her teen son Nick. As per usual, when life is settling down her past comes back as a slap in the face. Her abusive ex-husband has returned and is determined to cause her problems. Over the years she has watched Buck from her side of the bar, trying to be his friend, to encourage him out of this shell that he is stuck in. He is the kind of man that is her dream forever man.
When Buck comes running to her rescue while dealing with her ex-husband, some lines are crossed. Can these two wounded souls be healed? Will they find an even ground and take some steps towards the future or will their past be too strong and hold them back. What will the people of this small town have to say.
To some this book might seem a little sad and depressing in the beginning, but Jennifer does a good job of expressing the emotions that Buck and his children are feeling still after their loss so long ago. Yes, Perry starts out a little overbearing and pushy but she is in desperate need for help. I love that as things progress there is a large focus on moving forward without taking place of the lost, but keeping Layla's memory strong.
I am curious as to what will come next in the Oyster Cove Series.
As always Jennifer has touched my heart...she plays it like a fiddle. I cried, laughed and yelled at my e-reader ,that I had to put it down and walk away...for a minute to gather my emotions and some tissue...Lots of tissues.
Damn woman you rock hard.
This series promises to be just as GREAT! as the Mitchell family and more.
All heart and family...full of love, laughs, drama, hugs and sexy hot scenes.
