About the Author
When I was approximately 12 years old I had a curiousity about my family's history. I thus inquired of my aunt from El Salvador who was visiting my family in San Francisco, California at that time. She was able to give me some key pieces of information. My interest in family genealogy also led me to research other Hispanic histories, -it was my idea to do a documentary about Spanish immigration to Hawaii and to California in the early 1900s. That documentary, titled "Weaving with Spanish Threads" in which I appear as a host was completed by the film company Palomino Productions and it won an award from the WAVE (Western Access Video Excellence) organization in 2007. Years prior to working on this film, I collected publications, documents and photographs concerning that early 20th century immigration. I continue to research this subject. I am bilingual in Spanish and English, and I continue to study Arabic. It is my goal to encourage others to learn about history and the various world cultures. I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area where I continue to live. I write articles concerning history and culture and I am an advocate for improving the lives of residents of the region where I live. I am also an activist for international causes.
