This book floored me. Really and truly it did... There have been a lot of books I've read recently that have touched me this book essentially has topped my list. ~ The Book Cafe

Every so often, you come across a book that leaves a mark. Not necessarily because it's the sexiest, dirtiest, darkest, or even most romantic. But because it touches you in a way other books haven't. ~ Seraphim Book Reviews

I've been sitting here for 15 minutes trying to articulate how this beautiful, beautiful book made me feel. ~ Jemina Venter

Insightful, heartwarming, heartbreaking and an extraordinarily beautiful love story. ~ I Dare You to Read

I was expecting the book to be sad but what I really felt was a mix of emotions that, ultimately left me full of hope and faith. This is one roller coaster ride that is absolutely worth the price of admission! ~ luv my books

I read this book pretty much in one sitting, because like any good wave, this is one you MUST ride until the end. Five stars, no question. ~ Demelza Carlton

I've never read anything bad by Lisa Swallow, but this was absolutely her best work yet! This girl CAN WRITE! Damn! I was completely swept away by Guy and Phe, individually but also a pair <3 Once I picked this book up, I was unable to put it down. My only regret is that I'm already done reading it now and missing the characters...definitely going through some book withdrawal after this one. Can't wait to see what Lisa Swallow comes up with next!

In real life we often need something to dive into that keeps us from thinking about what's really going on. It's the reason I read everyday. Sometimes I stray from my usual read to find something different. Swallow has definitely brought something different in this story about Phe and Guy.
Through personal tragedy and illness they are brought together by fate to help each other through the deep waters into the shallow. How these two finally catch the same wave is truly a miracle. This story is love, life and mental illness at its messiest but I loved it so hard.
Fantastic story Lisa Swallow, thank you for letting me into this world.

Lisa Swallows is at it again with her new book The Same Deep Water. This book is different than her other books, but even so, it is even better than the rest in my opinion. This book does touch on some subjects that might be hard for some readers to understand or read about, so please keep this in mind when reading this book.
The Same Deep Water has many twists within the story line. The opening chapter sets the tone for the book and it lets you know that Lisa is not holding anything back. To say I shed a couple of tears would be the understatement of the year. This book had me in full blown ugly cry, which I can honestly say has only happened two other times when it comes to book. This book is devastatingly wonderful and I would not change a single part of it.
The characters in this book are very well developed. Both Guy and Phe are relatable characters that you grow to love. I love that Lisa is able to write in a way that you feel you are truly reading the characters thoughts. It is like you can hear the character narrating her story to you. This is what I call amazing writing skills. I love that as Phe is experiencing life, I feel like I am experiencing everything right along with her. I also love that Phe has her funny moments too. This book made me cry, but it also made me laugh at times.
I don’t want to spoil anything about the book, but I will tell you how I reacted. As I have said above, there were times I laughed and times I cried. There were times I sighed in both content and frustration. There were also the couple of times I sat in silence, shocked by the by the events unfolding.

Phe wanted to jump off a cliff. She was about to when a guy found her. A guy named Guy. He convinces her not to jump off the cliff and help him with his bucket list instead. He says that he will die soon. She assumes that he has a brain tumor or something. At his insistence, she writes her own bucket list so they can do their lists together. The bucket lists connects them to do things together and spend some time together. She finally gets some help as well as medication which gets her back on track. So she feels like she's ready for life even when they fall in love. But along the way she realizes that Guy has a secret. He acts odd at times. High and low. Up and down. She tries to understand him and get him to tell her what's wrong. He refuses which tears them apart. Is he really dying? What's wrong with him? Does she have to walk away this time? Is it too much for her to handle?

It's a bittersweet love story. Two troubled people find love in an unlikely place. Both want to knock on Death's door. But together, they try to find their way back to healing. But when secrets stand in the way, she gets confused and scared. It's such an interesting story that makes you understand how mental illness can really affect you as well as the people around you. What it takes to be strong to endure the ups and the lows. What a great book!

It isn't everyday that you read a book that leaves an indelible mark on your heart and soul. The Same Deep Water is a beautifully written story with characters that will stay with you forever.
Guy is a kind, good looking, considerate young man - so full of life. He would appear to be the perfect boyfriend but is struggling with a life threatening illness that has him wanting to complete his bucket list before time runs out.
Phe is a timid young woman who has suffered a deep trauma and is struggling with her own battles with a mental illness. Trying to stay afloat above the deep dark water that threatens to take her under is an everyday struggle for her.
This is where they both meet.....Phe on the edge ready to take her own life and Guy who is the one to slowly bring her back off the edge and into a world where she discovers she can actually LIVE rather than exist. Whilst ticking off items on their respective bucket lists they do the unexpected.....fall in love. But Phe soon learns that Guy is hiding his own secrets.....one the reader will discover and one I don't want to ruin for you. It will leave Phe reeling and have her question everything. It might just possibly drag her back under the deep dark water again.
The Same Deep Water is an exquisitely crafted story that will tug on your heart strings and will most certainly stay with you for a very long time.
You will fall in love with Guy and Phe.....their story is a unique and beautiful one about love and the possibility of overcoming ones demons to finally try to live!
It will hopefully leave you the reader with a better understanding of the daily struggles people suffering from a mental illness go through.
I thoroughly loved this exquisite novel! It will most certainly leave an indelible mark on your heart and open your mind.
By far - the best book I've read this year!
Absolute 5 stars!!!!
