Now for the review of the product:
In this price range for True Pure Sine Wave I found this the best product out there based on extensive
research and lots of reviews from other consumers. When I got the item I noticed that it was not made in
China but in Taiwan. I have other products made in Taiwan that have served me well and have good quality
controls. So in my experience I considered that a plus. But I'm no expert about which country has
the best manufacturing so you'll have to take that with a grain of salt.
1. Price, Pure Sine Wave, technical specs, and built-in controls for overload, safety, etc.
2. Simple to operate. LED light goes red, amber, or green to give you good feedback.
3. Customer service is excellent from Explorer. (I have no opinion about other Sellers since
I haven't ever bought from them.)
4. Comes with both DC socket plug in and alligator clips.
1. To set it up you need tiny screwdriver. Regular screwdrivers are much too big.
They could include a cheap little one and it would cost them next to nothing, and
they should - but Samlex does not. If I had not had a little one around I would have been
2. They should have also included a piece of insulated copper ground wire. Instructions recommend
using a ground wire, which is wise. It would have cost pennies to include a piece of grounding wire
so I don't have to make a trip to the hardware store. Samlex did not so I have to run that errand.
So you'll need a piece of ground wire and a tiny little screwdriver. No big deal, these are cheap
and easy to find items. But it can be a hassle to make a trip to the store to acquire them. This is not
the fault of the Seller, whoever you decide to buy from - it is just an oversight by Manufacturer.
3. The instruction manual is comprehensive. But it contains only one of two pictures (graphics). That
makes it harder for the non-technical consumer to figure out how the gadget should be set-up. If you
don't know what color wire goes where, for example, you might be frustrated or make a mistake that
damages your inverter. Again this wasn't a problem for me. But it could be for some consumers.
If I could afford bigger AGM Batteries I would have invested in a more powerful inverter. But under
my budget constraints I needed a 300-watt inverter and this one is the best at the best price I found.
Before you buy an inverter I recommend doing your homework to learn about capacity, your electricity
load needs, which kind of batteries to buy, how to maintain them, etc.
If you are using DC batteries indoors (enclosed space) then AGM are the safer option. Ordinary auto
batteries do give off toxic and flammable fumes that are not recommended for use indoors. But if you
invest in AGM batteries you should also keep them "topped-off" (like with a trickle charger) because
otherwise if you just let them sit around unused it is bad for the batteries and shortens their life.
Con: Expensive. No usb port, only one ac port.
Wire attachment screws are very tiny, you will need a very small screwdriver, smaller than standard garage-style (eyeglass or sewing machine style)
I use it to power a medical CPAP breathing machine at night in my RV, and the inverter ran completely silently - not even any fan noise.
I am very, very happy with this inverter - it's one of the cheapest pure sine waves that I found, and I'm relieved that it turned out to be such excellent quality.
