Positive points:
I am visual so it is easier then reading a book.

Negative points:
The DVD three is confusing, but aren't they all.
The same clip is used in 2 different parts in the DVD. (Exposure => Basic Picture Modes=> Sports & Getting a Great Shot => Sports Shooting)
They should have used 2 cameras for filming, One behind Rick's shoulder especially when he is saying stuff like: "push this button" and we can't actually see which button he is touching!
It looks like they are always rushed (clips are running of an average of 2-4 minutes top , I was hopping for more details).
I wished it had more stuff about exposure & tack sharp picture.
It is a well documented fact that you need a tripod to have Tack Sharp pictures, but you never see them use one (except once)!!!

I think that Canon should include it with the camera when you buy it!

I thought this would be an introductory level resource for Canon cameras. However it is really a series of very short, almost anecdotal statements by Sammon, each surrounded by 1 - 2 minutes of title graphics with a generic Macintosh iDVD music bed that quickly becomes annoying. You spend most of your time watching the titles of the chapter and the review of the chapter, all with the same monotonous music. The title and review often take longer than the actual lessons. You might watch 20 seconds of the title, get about 60 seconds of incomplete advice, then another 60 seconds of text review of the same incomplete advice. For instance his complete advice for the Chapter on Sports photography consists of him telling you to put the camera in the "Sports" mode. No kidding. Then we have the obligatory music/picture montage that repeats the advice about putting the camera in the sports mode.

I was hoping for a little more detail and analysis than that provided and the pace is just too slow. Each segment is so short, you'll spend half the time pressing the next button, watching reviews and listening to the same music clips.
There are some good tips buried within but this DVD is probably best for someone new to the camera who does not like to read manuals.

I bought this DVD hoping I would get some useful tips on taking better pictures. I just purchased my digital Cannon XT and just playing with it for 10 minutes, I figured out everything that was covered in this DVD. I was hoping for more but got much less. If you've never used any type of camera (digital or otherwise), I would recommend this DVD but if you're looking to polish your current skills, even if your skills are minimal, try another route.

In a nutshell, this DVD was a big disapointment for me I learned everything I needed to use the camera in about 10 minutes and then wasted $20 thinking I'd get more.

I consider myself an advanced digital photographer but I am always looking to learn more and improve. I like Mr. Sammon's books so I jumped on this DVD when I came across it.

The pace of it is rather slow but that is what the 'next' button is for on the remote I suppose.

The information on the DVD is well organized and very well presented. All topics are reviewed at the end of each section.

I have learned several things about my XTi/XT and a number of things about photography from this DVD.

Watching the DVD made me feel like I was being RUSHED to the end. Way too fast a pace with little time to digest the concepts before another one is FLOWN by your eyes. I did NOT learn much from it. I found a good book instead. Don't waste your money!

I finally received the Canon T1i and saw the guide and upon trying to FOLLOW what Rick was saying ~ I was VERY FRUSTRATED because he'd tell you to PUSH the WB button and guess what ~ he never bothered to MENTION that you had to CHANGE the setting because the AUTO setting will NOT ALLOW you to do anything with the BW button and also he never mentions that you HAVE TO CHANGE SETTINGS on camera to get the CONTINUOUS shots of which WILL NOT WORK ON "AUTO" mode.... of which he never bothers to tell you ~ and then the "Music Clips" others mention this... oh my gosh.... could they just TAKE THOSE OUT... most annoying... and then to have to CLICK on every button and have to go BACK TO THE BEGINNING every time... I just felt that even though this came with the camera.... Much more detail could have been given in a step by step to follow easier of which wasn't given... and why not show the CAMERA MODE on the screen when doing all the different settings so one can actually SEE what MODE the camera needs to be in to get the features to work..... Why not USE THE TIME the music clips played to give more instruction!!! .... get more to the basics and PLEASE... revise this CD and be more specific ~ ~ I took the camera back to COSTCO... and someone with much knowledge was able to help me.... I am so happy to have this camera and will do much research on line to find the answers explained that I might need... I'm not a novice with camera's,,,, but.... with all the features it is going to be just a little more challenging... but excited to see the pic's that will come out of this...
