I own 2 pairs of these and in a course of soon 5 years, they always been great, quality open backs. The sound is monitor grade and superbly comfortable. I am very pleased with quality of Samson products in general. I can wear them for hours with no fatigue at all. Considering their price point, you will be hard pressed to find anything that great. Samson also gives 3 years warranty on it, which I never had any chance to use, but it speaks of quality too.

Used for rock/alternative/math/indie casual listening through regular consumer electronics, as well as home studio recording, mix checking, general hobbyist/amateur musician stuff. To my ears these really tell you when there's something wrong with a mix or a mastering effort: they provide a very clear indication of whether something is over-compressed or poorly-EQ'd because they are so transparent. Thus, music that's been brick-wall limited and over-excited at the mastering stage will sound exactly like it's been butchered the way it has. Well mixed and mastered stuff on these sounds absolutely glorious. Replaced my Audio-Technica ATHM50s as they broke and AT wanted £50 to repair the tiniest, absolutely minuscule, problem. At the time these were cheaper than the repair job. Never been as happy with a pair of headphones in my life. Had for about 2 years now and they sound clearer than ever. Very open, transparent, and natural. I have not experienced any of the problems that the sub 4-star reviewers have. I recommend these headphones very highly indeed.
They are plastic, but very solidly built, and have have zero tiny parts that might snap off after repeated use, like the ATH-M50s did.

I must begin by stating I am an aspiring audiophile and what I got from these phones was almost jaw-dropping accuracy and the most balanced and transparent sound south of 100 dollars. To begin these are the most affordable open cans that sound right and perhaps further even. It is no surprise that their sister brand Superlux is highly regarded in head-fi forums.

Althought the cans look plasticky and cheap they are sturdy, cable is thick enough althought I'd prefer a beefier one. The level of comfort they provide is more than acceptable and they clamp very little while not falling over your head if you tilt your noggin down.

The pads are kinda shallow and I would love to replece them by velour ones if I find ones that fit. I am pretty sure SQ will improve dramatically by posisioning the driver grille a little further but the guys at Samson did their job right by covering the driver grille with synthetic fabric so it does not press your ears so they are really comfy. These cans are really light despite their somewhat cumbersome structure they dissapear quickly when worn and they require exact positioning to appropriately listen to the the treble they offer.

These won't turn any heads for they are big but discrete and unassuming enough to take them out for a walk if the place is not noisy however the 10 foot cable would require a velcro strap or a similar measure for portable use and being open means you will hear external sounds and they will leak sound to the outside so wearing them in the tube may force you to raise volume to unhealthy levels annoying other people as well.

Even though this is my second pair (in over 4 years, mind you), these headphones are the best ones I have ever owned. I also have a pair of CH700's that, in my opinion, aren't as good as these. For all around quality sound (for the price!) you can't beat these.

Samson RH600 headphones: Maybe it's me but shouldn't a set of headphones listing for $80 (and costing almost $60) stay together as one piece longer than 2 1/2 years under light use? One of the earphones just broke off of the headset. I've got an email into the company and will repost and amend this message if they stand behind their product. No product lasts forever but 2 1/2 years doesn't seem long enough to me for such light use.

First of all I'm not an audiophile. I bought this headphone to play games on my computer. It replaced my old plantronics 650 headset. Out of the box it does sound clearer but it's like your head is inside a tin can. WIth some heavy tweaking on my xonar dx they sound better. Also do not get these if you want bass these will distort easily if you up the bass. If you have a fat head these will be uncomfortable.
