Wheel Came Off On Way To First Trip, Samsonite Refused Warranty Claim

One of the spinner wheels came off while wheeling the bag through the airport parking lot on the way to our first trip with the bag (8 days after purchase). As I changed directions, the spinner wheel "drug sideways" briefly and the wheel stripped off is axle. There was nothing extreme about how the bag was being rolled when the wheel came off.

Samsonite refused to replace the wheel under warranty because I could not *prove* that it was not damaged due to misuse.

So, I was stuck with paying $21.25 for a replacement wheel, nearly 1/4 the cost of the whole bag.

Note: The additional gashes on the wheel assembly in the photo came from continuing to use the bag with a broken wheel for the rest of the trip. The original damage was the wheel simply "falling off".

I traveled on WOW airlines with this suitcase as my carry-on. They are very strict with baggage and measure/weigh most luggage when you check in. It is a tight fit, but this bag does conform to their standards. I was able to pack a lot into the suitcase, it rolls very smoothly, and the handle is comfortable. I'm curious to see how the white color holds up over time, but after two weeks and three countries, it still looks clean. Overall, I'm very happy with this suitcase and expect I will be using it for years to come.

Update 3/27/2018 - The suitcase has held up well through 10+ trips. The wheels still roll smoothly and, though it has a few scratches and abrasions from miles of rolling over cobblestones and through wet winter streets, it is still white. The hard plastic is easy to clean. I love this bag and recommend it to my friends.

The end of the zipper could not be pulled up, several tailors looked rough, and there were scratches in some places. I don’t think this is new, it seems like it has been used. Extremely disappointed！！！
Secondly, the tone of the customer service is very poor, she said, then only return, but I need to go out right away and need that luggage,so no time to return, and then she repeated "i'm unable to help you", and meanwhile, kept urging: " I need to end the chat."
Very disappointed at that luggage and Amazon's service, bad!

I bought a various sizes of the white for my wife and daughter. Through 5 plane trips and they look great. I was concerned how the white would hold up. It gets little scuffs but they aren't really visible more than any other color. Luggage itself is well made and the expander material is very strong when open.

This is one nice bag. It does scratch but I think it gives the bag some character. I checked it and it made it through 6 different airplanes to India and back and still rolls like a dream. It is expandable so i could pack for a week with ease and the locking mechanism is cool. Great purchase since it is close to $300 at Macys.

I travel weekly, both domestically and internationally so this one-year old suitcase gets used often. It is lightweight and easy to move around in airports. The exterior will get scratched quickly but much less than the shiny suitcases Samsonite also sells. Interior room is spacious and well constructed. Recently, one of the wheels broke off. Not sure if this was a manufacturer defect or airline issue. Didn't want to wait 3 weeks for my local repair center to fix so contacted Samsonite Consumer Relations, ordered the wheel and it's back in business. I will stick with Samsonite.

We used these cases (we bought 2) for a recent weeklong trip. Dispite their small size, we were able to put adequate clothes and shoes for two people without even expanding the size. In this manner thay were able tobe taken as carry on, saving $100 in luggage fees. Our next trip is overseas for 10 days. We anticipate needing to expand the cases to get everything that we need in, but one piece of luggage is free on international flights, so we whould be fine. Two more domestic trips and they will have paid for themselves. The quality of the materials, zippers and locks seems on par withseveral of the"premium" brands that we looked at. Plus, a 10 year warranty from Samsonite

I absolutely love this suitcase....its sleek and compact but still fits quite a lot of clothes...i used it for a trip around Europe...it held up great and the ease of wheeling in any direction was such a big help...its also very light weight which was so handy when carrying up stairs...it did get a little dirty since its white...but i love the colour and it was easy to wipe clean once i got home.

Al sacarla de la caja, la parte frontal estaba completamente hundida, puse empujarla desde adentro pero le quedó maltratada la zona. Ya no puedo regresarla pues necesito usarla mañana. No tenía mucha protección por dentro, solo venía en una caja de cartón.

Fuera de eso está muy bonita, solo que presiento que se maltrata fácil.

La marca te dice todo. No hace sonido al moverse por el piso. La acción de la palanca retractil es muy buena, no se va girando de manera floja como tantas otras maletas.
Hasta ahora julio del 2021 se puede llevar a bordo en Aeroméxico y Volaris y cabe perfectamente. Hasta que lo metí en un Embraer.

Es muy amplia y la llevé por un viaje de 3 semanas (cargando ropa extra por el frío), me entró todo perfecto. Compré la siguiente de tamaño también porque inicialmente pensé en llevar esa, pero finalmente me decidí por esta más pequeña y fue la mejor elección.
Aguantó mucho movimiento entre trenes, buses y aviones. En el primer vuelo que lo usé no sé qué clase de trato le dieron porque en la parte de arriba al frente, le quedó una marca como de que lo aplastaron, pero no sufrió ningún daño.
Las rueditas no hacen mucho ruido en las calles, como otras que rebotan con cualquier cosa y suenan como que va un tractor en la cuadra.
Quedé muy a gusto con la compra.

Love this suitcase. Went away for two weeks and it’s light weight and holds a lot of clothing. Super easy to pull. The eight wheels gives easy mobility in any direction. Samsonite is great. It does get scratch but what suitcase doesn’t. Easy to clean off dirt with water and soap. It was the only suitcase of its color and easy to spot. Will buy another definitely.
