I bought the "volt" color, which is a kind of fluorescent greeny-yellow, and I'm glad I did because it really stood out on the luggage carousels when most of the others were black. There are handles on three sides, making it easy to lift and handle in any orientation. The interior fabric seems thin, and one can feel the handle mechanism through it, but it held up well during my travels. On the exterior, the fabric is a tough woven synthetic. After two international and four domestic flights, not to mention two weeks of bumping around the continent, it looks as good as new. When I was shopping for this bag, I found less expensive brands, but I'm glad I purchased this one and I'm looking forward to traveling with it again.
Please note: The picture of the "black" bag used here is NOT a picture of the spinner model, but no worries, a spinner is what you will get. Use the Red and Volt pix for reference.
5/17/13 edited to add: pictures have been updated, the black bag shown now is indeed the spinner. Flying with this bag for several months, mostly Delta, no problems with carry-on.
The size is big enough to hold most of my stuff for week-long trips, and the only time I've had to check the bag vs storing in overhead luggage was when we were on a plane (Canadair Regional Jet 200) with overhead compartments so small even my underseat bag wouldn't fit in the overhead, and basically everyone on the plane had to have their bags gate-checked.
My biggest complaint about this bag is in it's rollability. When standing the bag upright and rolling it on all 4 wheels, it never wants to just glide parallel to you, it always wants to turn itself cock-eyed, rolling with a corner forward. On times when I have to walk a long way in the airport, I've gotten hand cramps from trying to keep the thing going in the direction I want it. Often when changing from standing still to walking, I have to kick it a bit to get it started. The handle doesn't help much in this aspect, as it will wiggle just enough to be annoying, not helping in navigating it much. Any kind of incline means I have to switch to the 2-wheeled pull.
It's weird, but I am a little bit sad the suitcase has been so durable...I can't bring myself to replace it just because it's annoying to roll around. So until I'm well-off enough to go buying suitcases all willy-nilly, I'll be grudgingly wrestling this one around.
