This is apparently some kind of price fixed item because every online site I visited had it at the same price - $269.99. I'm an avid Amazon shopper, but always search for better deals when purchasing anything over $200. I found another online retailers price of $224.95, no tax & free shipping, so this was a no-brainer decision - sorry Amazon...
This is my first spinner & I was very concerned about the airline luggage monkeys tearing the wheels off. It's been on 4 trips with me & so far I'm impressed with the durability of the wheels - not even a hint of damage. Add the TSA lock that the zipper pulls securely latch into, this seems to be one durable bag that the monkeys will have to work hard to bust up.
The case is big enough to easily pack for a week, including two suits with an extra pair of slacks, folded dress shirts, casual pants & shirts etc. Both sides of the clamshell bag have a zippered cover with pouches for wet items & other small things. The case is light, leaving plenty of margin for packing without fear of overweight bag fees. It has the "look" of carbon fiber, so minor scratches should not even show up. It has a handle on the top & one on the long edge, so retrieval from the airport carousel & hefting up onto the hotel bed is a cinch.
Overall, this is a surprisingly good bag that I'm really glad I purchased, & I'll update my experiences as I log more miles.
Another 6 trips & 10k miles & I'm really liking this bag. Yes, it's got a few scratches, but it's maintaining it's good looks well. I'm now used to packing the suitcase using cubes & have no issues with getting enough "stuff" in for longer trips. My only difficulty is packing suits without them coming out wrinkled. My now retired Hayes was wide enough for a suiter to fit in width-wise. That doesn't work with my new bag, so I'm trying an Eagle Creek Pack-It Garment Sleeve to solve this issue. Otherwise, I'm thrilled with this bag & recommend it without any reservation!
Another 4 trips & 9 airports & I'm completely sold on this bag. Packing for a week is a cinch, the bag is as durable as any I've used & the airport baggage monkeys have yet to do any harm to it! If you're a serious traveler & need a good intermediate sized bag that's easy to maneuver & packs great, this is your bag.
Unfortunately the Samsonite locking system just didn't hold up. It worked a couple of times but then one of the locks just decided to stay locked and would not let me insert the zipper handle to the locked position no more. It seem to just jammed itself. The other one release perfectly and fine, so I tried looking up the problem and it seems that Samsonite has an ongoing problem with their poor lock construction. Another issue I realized was the wheel construction, it was all plastic except the actual wheel. It does not seem to be able to handle frequent traveling but I have not had this luggage long enough to even test and now its going back to Amazon in less than a month of purchase.
If you are really considering this luggage but worry about the lock failing, just note that you can always buy a replacement lock from Samsonite and they also have a 10 year warranty that covers the lock. I just so happen to be within the return window of my purchase, so I did not have to deal with the warranty.
