The handle extends to a comfortable height for walking, but not quite high enough to work with my backpack (which was designed with a sleeve so it could ride on top of spinners). A companion bag would need to be pretty small to work with this handle extension.
The new wheel design was highly by Samsonite in their marketing of this product. I agree completely with everything they said. The wheels have performed as advertised. The bag glides effortlessly empty or with 48 pounds of clothes stuffed inside.
It has only been used/flown/checked-in twice. And now it's unusable. The first time it was checked in, the metal Samsonite name tag on the front of the case was broken by the airline. Sure, this is "cosmetic" but it resulted in a very sharp object that can be dangerous.
The second time it was checked in, the plastic near one of the wheels was cracked in multiple locations, rendering it unusable.
So, this is a very expensive suitcase -- at $150 per use.
Dimensions were never an issue (even when dealing with smaller and pickier european airlines).
Other than these two issues I have, I haven't had any issues with durabilty, the lock, wheels, or anything else. The weight is great which was key for me. The pros definitely out way the cons in my opinion.
Very bad quality. Just after 1.5 year after purchasing this "great" suitcase it scratched in corner and Samsonite company do not want to take a responsibility to it, charging it was not a production defect. It happenеd during short trip by privet car without any visible reason.
Now this beautiful suitcase should be thrown into garbage...
Very sad and disappointed.
