I own several Samsung monitors and they are all great! The only real issue that appears to apply to all of them is the stand. They either completely lack adjustment capabilities or offer limited adjustment. This particular model lets you tilt it back, but you can't tilt it forward or to the sides at all. In my case, my monitors are on a riser so they are elevated about a foot. It would be nice if I could tilt them forward a little, but I am forced to resort to putting something under the back of the stand to get the desired angle and this makes it a bit wobbly. Other than that, the monitor rocks! It has excellent brightness and contrast. For the price and quality, can't beat it.

Overall very please with this monitor. It is bright and very clear and priced very well. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the description indicated that it came with a DVI connection which it does. What it does not tell you is that you cannot use a standard DVI cable to connect it but rather must use the one included with the monitor which has an HDMI on one end requiring you to purchase a separate adapter if your video card does not have HDMI. Still pleased with the purchase however.

The Samsung C230 series S27C230B 27-inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor.
Seems to be just an average monitor with a lot of real estate. No bells or whistles. Blacks are nonexistent and light bleeds through around all edges. There is no swivel or tilt to stand, no big deal for me. The settings are easy to adjust. This is a $200.00 monitor . You get what you pay for. Still not bad for the price!

Brought this "fantastic?" monitor in December 2013.

13 months later, in Jan. 2015, here is what failed.

1. The OSD (i.e., the Menu button) failed. I cannot figure out whether it is locked (and therefore won't unlock) or it simply no longer works.

2. In 'Extend and/or Projector Only mode,' the picture/resolution is extremely distorted. As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter if the monitor is connected using a digital (DVI) or an analog cable. And, both problems persist when the monitor is plugged into a different computer system. Basically, something funky is going on.

3. After leaving the system unplugged -- and this is when the OSD was working, it always defaults to the German language. A small but compounding annoyance.

4. Now that OSD has failed, the monitor would randomly switch between analog and digital connection. Hmm...

So, did I get a lemon? Or have I bought an inferior product?

5. On top of all, conflicting service/warranty information.

My warranty card says "One Year Parts and Labor."

The Samsung website says "36 months from date of purchase / 39 months from month of manufacture whichever is earlier (for 17" or greater CDT monitors and all LCD-TFT monitors). OR, 12 months from date of purchase / 15 months from the month of manufacture whichever is earlier (for all plasma monitor models)."

Well... what is Samsung going to honor, if anything? That, well, we'll have to wait until I hear back from Samsung.
But really, this is a review of the product, not of the services.

** UPDATED 12 January, 2015 **
Samsung got back to me in 24 hours about the warranty service. Luckily warranty is still good.

This is my 3rd Samsung 27" monitor and I am very satisfied with all three. They are different models and have been bought over a period of time and I have no complaints with any of them. I highly recommend them for quality and cost.

Bought a 27" Samsung LED monitor a year ago (manufactured 11/2013). It died due to capacitor failure. Support says it's out of warranty. Maybe it's a fluke. But googling "Samsung Capacitor LED capacity" says this problem is pretty common. Might want to try a different brand. Caveat Emptor.

My desk keeps the monitor raised about 8 inches off the surface, and even with propping up the base so the monitor tilts down quite a bit, the top of the screen still looks badly washed out if the slightest bit of light touches it. I actually ordered a new desk so I could deal with it (hankering for a new desk anyway).

Otherwise, it seems like a nice monitor for the price.

Love this monitor. Didn't realize how dull my other monitor until I lit this one up along side it. I use dual monitors and my plan was to buy one monitor at a time. One of my 22" monitors went out and I replaced it with this 27". The difference was so noticeable that I immediately had to replace the second one.
