Hi. I added the following as comments to two Samsung 932BW owners that had power supply issues.
Do it yourself repair. Sorry if I am clogging this monitor's review page with my text.

Hi. I just repaired a Samsung 932BW this Saturday. There are more than a few links on the internet about the power supply in this unit. I only needed the links to feel better about prying apart the smooth, shiny, screwless casing. The failure is nothing. Two capacitors (C109, C110) on the same rail fail at the same time because the manufacturer was too cheap to spend the extra 10-cents (Yes. $0.10 I am serious.) for a higher voltage capacitor with a lower ESR so that the massive ripple does not HEAT UP and kill the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
Heat and ripple always kills capacitors, along with inverted polarity and too much voltage. The metal tops of the failed capacitors will be round or domed in shape from overheating. The cheap, failed Samsung capacitors are made by CapXon and deep purple in color. Never heard of them and don't want to. Might be quality, but Samsung did not reasearch for 15 minutes to find a capacitor with the proper specifications.

My two new capacitors came from Digikey and were $0.67 (yes) each. Shipping was US Postal 1st Class for $2.00. Support your Postal system. Took 3 days from MN to NJ. I knew that there was 20mm of clearance for the caps, so I chose these two Panasonic/ Matsushita components with a 16V and not wimpy 10V rating. They also have the exact 5mm lead spacing, 5000 Hours at 105'C (never going to see that temp ever), and one of the lowest ESR's so the ripple current capability is 2.15 Amps. Excellent pieces. Digikey part # P12366-ND.

I've owned the Samsung 932bw 19" monitor for nearly two years now. The monitor has great picture quality and a vivid color spectrum. It has a black glossy sleek appearance and manages a 1440 x 900 resolution. Never had a dead pixel or any kind of problem I can think of. The monitor is a great buy and works flawlessly. Samsung makes quality products and this is no exception. Excellent product.

Basically, the monitor powers on, but there is no video connection because the backlight has failed. This has been documented online. I have emailed Samsung for support on this, but they haven't responded. I would not recommend this product, or Samsung.

I chose this rating because: I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 932B brand spanking new in 2007 from Staples and it's the only monitor that I have used with all my desktop computers since. That mean I've gone through several desktops, they've broken down, crapped out whatever you would call it and ended up smashed and in a dumpster and I've always kept my SyncMaster because it has always worked no problem. As a matter of fact I bought a new desktop sans a screen and hooked it up to the computer after being in a closet for almost a year and it worked no problem. I love this screen. I don't know why everyone has problems with it but I've been the one and only owner to mine and it has never failed me. I recently built a desktop computer for my teenager and bought a new LCD screen for myself and ended up giving her the new one because I just couldn't part with mine!

Unlike the others after three years with this monitor (knock wood) I have not had any problems with it. Initially I was not happy with the color settings even after trying to tune it manually. I installed the software that comes with it which includes a color / saturation / brightness tuner which allows you save the settings as an ICC profile. Then on bootup the software loads and loads the ICC profile ensuring the correct settings. You can load the ICC profile either in the Windows monitor system settings or use the software (Natural color Pro) which came with it. Funnily enough I had a Mitsu Diamond Pro CRT which had awesome color so I just saved the color profile from that one and attached it to the flatscreen. Now the flatscreen looks as good (or better!) as the CRT!

It's hard to rate a monitor (such as this) that works well, but then quits on you after a while. Speaking from experience, I've used this monitor for a about 2 and a half years and have really liked it overall (before it stopped working). I know I haven't explored all the little details and fine-tunings that are probably there to discover, but being someone who knows a bit about TVs/monitors (especially HD ones) I would say that, above all, the picture and performance of this monitor is very satisfactory - haven't seen much that I didn't like.
Perhaps, the fact that I haven't had to fool with much is something that goes in favor of this somewhat basic 19" monitor - again, the picture seems to me quite good and crisp.
Now, getting to the bad. As I stated in the beginning, I don't really have ANY complaints about the monitor, except for the fact that a few days ago, it went on the blink. As I write this review (interesting time to write it, I suppose) I am using another older CRT monitor while this Samsung is on its way to the company (fortunately still under warranty - believe it was a 3-yr warranty) to be repaired. The sad part is, I found out, after the fact, that this thing apparently has a somewhat known problem that numerous people have reported. Mainly, the monitor will do a light flicker (sometimes prolonged in some cases, and sometimes for a short period - my case) and then eventually go black. It has something to do with a converter component that apparently goes bad after a while. In any case, NOT a good thing.
So, cutting to the chase: why did I rate this monitor a 3? Well, in all fairness, it IS a good monitor...when it's WORKING...but I can't recommend it, unfortunately, because of its history of problems. Truth be told, it probably deserves less than a 3.
