At a Glance:
- V-NAND technology enhances performance and efficiency
- NVMe interface for extremely fast read/write speeds
- PCIe Gen 3 supports high-speed data transfer
- Energy-efficient design for long battery life
- Dynamic Thermal Throttling Protection reduces overheating
- Slim M.2 form factor
V-NAND Technology Maximizes Endurance under Intensive Workloads
The 950 PRO SSD features Samsung 3D vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology that stacks cell layers on top of one another to increase density, performance, and efficiency while creating a smaller footprint. When compared with the conventional Planar NAND technology over a five-year period,* V-NAND technology increases endurance and prolongs lifespan with insulators that cause less stress and are more resistant to wear under heavy client workloads.
Dynamic Thermal Throttling Protection Technology Reduces Overheating
The 950 PRO also features Dynamic Thermal Throttling Protection technology, which controls the temperature of the device to reduce overheating and maintain a high level of sustained performance.
Efficient Power Management for Improved Battery Life
The 950 PRO is up to 1.5 times** more power efficient than the 850 PRO, so your battery will last longer. This means you can work and play on your PC for longer periods of time.
Ultra-Fast Sequential Read/Write Speeds with NVMe Interface
The Samsung 950 PRO features the NVMe interface with substantially enhanced bandwidth, so you can quickly access critical data. The 950 PRO delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,200 MB/s and 900 MB/s respectively.*** This makes the 950 PRO ideal for demanding applications such as gaming, graphic design, computer-aided design, data analysis, and engineering simulations. The Samsung 950 PRO SSD is available in both 256GB & 512 GB of capacity,**** so you will have plenty of room for all your data.
PCI Express for High-Speed Data Transfer
This NVMe SSD supports PCI Express***** Gen 3x4 lanes, offering higher bandwidth and lower latency to process significantly more data than SATA SSDs.****** Presented in a compact M.2 form factor, the next-generation 950 PRO is ideal for professionals using high-end PCs and workstations.

Also, be careful when you are plugging and unplugging this drive....it is really tiny and flimsy, just don't break it by accident :)
I am thrilled with my new build! Everything works well together and it was all plug and play. I did not have to make any kind of adjustments in the BIOS. I was so worried that I was going to have issues with the SSD not being recognized as a boot device (after reading various forums regarding NVMe - M.2 SSD's and this particular motherboard) and that major BIOS tweaks were going to be needed. That was simply not the case at all. As soon as I booted the computer for the first time and went to install Windows 10 Professional, the SSD was recognized and Windows installed perfectly. So the issues I was concerned with turned out to have nothing to do with my build. I think those issues have to do with using more than one M.2 SSD or other types of SSD's or hard drives in conjunction with each other. Then RAID becomes a factor. But in my case this was not an issue.
My new computer is faster than any computer I have ever had! Boot time for a cold boot or restart is around 6 to 10-seconds. Things that took a half an hour or more to copy to the hard drive, like my music and video files from a backup drive, took less than 5-minutes on this SSD. All my programs open instantly. I know that SSD's are supposed to make things much faster than the old mechanical hard drives, but this was so much more than I expected.
Just make sure that you download the drivers and support software from Samsung. I found that the easiest way to build a PC with this SSD as the boot drive was to use a large SATA-3 HD as the boot drive first. Load all the software, including the drivers from Samsung, after placing the OS on the HD, then copy the image to the SSD directly. Change the boot device in the configuration and you are ready to Rock & Roll. After you are satisfied that the SDD is operating correctly, you can reformat the HD as your backup drive or for whatever you want. In fact, if the HD is large enough, leave it as is and have it available if you get hacked. I used a 1 TB Western Digital drive for this approach, so I have plenty of data space.
TL;DR │ Two of these in Raid 0 is crazy fast, as long as you can keep it cool.

WHAT I LIKE │ + │
+ Windows boot time faster than BIOS. ...What?
+ M.2 form factor. No bulky U.2 + PCIe card.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE │ × │
× Everything else will seem slow. You may actually develop computer rage from using other computers.
× In almost every available motherboard, the orientation will be upside down.
× Objectively expensive. Crazy expensive.
× Runs hot. Needs good airflow to keep cool. Otherwise, it will throttle.
