Even after 7 months, there is no need to replace batteries (and we are talking about a lot of usage monday to friday)
FYI: The Samsung Korea documentation for the P717LBK is correct and specifies that the door thickness should be 60-80mm. Didn't see this until after I bought the lock.
The lock itself is high quality, has a very solid feel to operate and looks good inside and out. Installation requires some patience however ... the English instructions are translated from Korean and they say some rather odd things! It comes with just 2 key fobs and a couple of mini stickers. So I bought a pack of 10 standard Mifare 13.56 MHz 14443A RFID cards to use for guests etc. (Samsung branded ones are 4x the price). Lock claims to be ISO 14443A compliant so the cards should be fine. Unfortunately I needed multiple tries to register them (lock kept saying "Try Again"). Once registered, they worked fine.
Usefully, the lock has a facility to plug in a little add-in module for radio control. The currently available version is designed for use with a standalone remote transmitter. It would be great if there was a Z-Wave version of this so I could register it to my home automation system. At the time of writing, there is indeed a Zwave module available, but only for South Korean frequencies. Hopefully they'll produce a US version soon.
