I order a bluetooth mouse but I don't feel like it will be nesesary due to the touch screen. This dock station brings whole new life to my SGN101. I do have to find a smart cover that will work with this. I'm running a custom rom from XDA on my SGN and everything seems compatible. Will upload some pictures.
EDIT: Got the "Gear Head" bluetooth mouse and does make a difference. Great combo.
-'Audio out' jack.
-Keyboard has lots of 'shortcut keys' (Brightness, volumen, Home, back, menu, mic, etc).
-Has a blue LED light on the right side to indicate the Caps lock is On.
-SGN charges when Samsung OEM charger is plugged into dock. Dock does not contain any batteries, it uses the power from the SGN and/or the OEM charger.
-Works w/o charger.
-Spacing between keys.
-Minimalistic space on desk (like a net book).
-Very good quality build in this Samsung product, elegant color (matte white).
-Does not come with a changer but your OEM SGN charger will work.
-No USB port :/ but not a deal breaker.
This Genuine Samsung Keyboard Dock arrived today from Amazon at lightning speed free shipping and is more perfect than I imagined.
Just Beautiful and so very Functional!!
I hope I didn't get the last one because I see they are no longer available on Amazon.
I joined it with a Microsoft bluetooth mouse (NOT A TOTAL PURIST) and now my Samsung Note 10.1 is a fun little workhorse. Great speakers offer exceptional radio and music . Press the Listen button and Google will answer.. I know you could navigate through all the features with your thumbs but I like to type on a keyboard . I like Shortcuts.too.
I admit this keyboard is hard to find, as Samsung has stopped making / selling them. I was very tempted to keep it but decided that it wasn't right for me to pay full retail for a damaged (and likely a previously returned) product. I also didn't want the hassle and wait of the whole return process.
I contacted the seller and asked if he would be willing to discount the price of the keyboard, because of the damage. Otherwise, I would go ahead and return it and order another one. The best he offered was a $15 discount / refund off the $110 I paid. That simply wasn't enough, considering the damage ... so... I got Amazon to give me a refund and ordered it again. I had to order from the same seller because Amazon couldn't locate another seller of this particular keyboard, designed specifically for the Samsung Note 10.1.
The second keyboard arrived just a few minutes ago. This time, the keyboard was enclosed in plastic (making me all the more certain that this first one WAS a used / previously returned item. And guess what ... the second keyboard also had a crack in it. Only one crack this time ... but it was a deeper crack. I haven't tested it yet, to see if it worked.
I went ahead and gave 2 stars because it was the correct keyboard for my tablet and it did work without any seeming problems. However, I will not buy from this seller again.
I also have the keyboard for my Galaxy Plus 7 - which will also work for the 10.1 Galaxy Tab and Note if you take out the black stabilizing tray. I had contacted Samsung to see if they even sold replacement trays but apparently they don't. Although perhaps I should have hinted that the tray for 10.1 keyboard broke.. instead of trying to just get a tray for a different tablet. I mean, why be able to take it out if it can't be replaced?
Oh well... :) I'm still happy with the keyboard. It does what I want.
