I was very happy to see this 750GB SSD go on sale because I needed to replace a hard drive that was starting to cause problems. Wow, what a difference! My boot times are ten times faster and everything loads instantly.

This drive comes with data migration software, which is a real plus. It doesn't include the USB to SATA adapter that the installation guide implies that you need, but if you're upgrading a desktop, there's a far better method you can use:

1. Install the data migration software from the CD onto your existing hard drive.
2. Shut down your system.
3. Open the PC's case.
4. Remove the data cable from your SATA optical drive and plug it into the new SSD.
5. Plug a spare power connector into the SSD (you can use the one from the optical drive if necessary).
6. Re-start your system.
7. Shut down everything that starts automatically (you can't migrate open applications).
8. Start the data migration software--it will find the SSD and transfer the files at full speed (a lot faster than using USB).
9. Smile!

I have a 17" macbookpro early 2011, my computer was extremely slow and I couldn't change it because apple stopped making 17" macbook pro. One of my friend recommended to change my hard disk drive and I bought Samsung 840 EVO 750 GB to install on my computer. after I did it I couldn't believe the difference. I can't stop restarting my computer to check how fast is that. lest than 10 second versus 5 minutes and then its ready to go. My mail application use to take about 3 minutes to start working now that is just 2 second. Unbelievable speed and performance. My early 2011 macbook pro performs like a brand new super fast computer. I can't be happier because I can keep my computer for another few years. Thank you Samsung. I highly recommend this product.

I cloned my Asus G74S laptop to this SSD and was shocked to see the increase in speed. The usual boot time was approximately 90 seconds and I'm now able to boot up at 15-20. Everything is extremely fast no matter what the program is. Well worth the money.

I used an Anker USB 3.0 to SATA adapter also purchased from Amazon to clone the main drive (this laptop has 2) and the entire job took approximately 30 minutes. The data migration software that came with the drive worked effortlessly. I'm no computer wiz by any stretch and was a little apprehensive about doing something like this but the software took over and did a fantastic job cloning the drive.

The software that comes with the drive gives you all sorts of latitude as to how you want the drive to work and really makes the whole process easier than it should be!

If you feel the need for speed, Samsung has the drive to get you there fast!

Believe it or not, I never considered checking my "Windows Experience" index until today. Prior to the installation, my lowest score (index) was 5.4 which was the actual (disk) drive. I just ran the index for the first time with the SSD installed and the index is now 7.2. The drive? 7.9!

I upgraded my son's macbook last year to a Samsung 840 Pro 512GB. It was easy and never had any issues, almost one year later. So I decided it was time to upgrade my 2011 iMac. I'm glad I did. Now I have a very new computer. Just remember to format as a bootable drive *before* installing it inside. I made the mistake of just formatting it, hoping the iMac would detect it and I could then install the OS. But it didn't, so I had to take it apart, remove the drive, format and install the OS using a USB2 enclosure. I reinstalled it (under the super drive) and it works perfectly as the main drive. I kept the original 1TB HD as it were as a second drive. I also still have the super drive, so it's a no-brainer install config. I got the OWC iMac kit which comes with the suction cups and SATA cable.

I was looking to improve performance of my laptop that took literally 6 to 8 MINUTES to boot. While reading these reviews, I was convinced that an SSD swap was in order. I purchased a 250 GB Samsung SSD from Amazon. The swap took under 5 minutes (three small screws in total). I had the right screwdriver, thanks to one of the reviews here. I did not even use the Data Migration disk. Instead, I did a fresh install of my Windows 7 Ultimate. Then, I went ahead and installed my software that I commonly use. Windows updates were a breeze. After everything was installed without any errors, I updated the drivers from Sony's website for Wnndows 7. This helped quite a bit in terms of visuals and security. After my anti-virus install, the laptop was booted for one final time. The boot took 7 seconds before the password screen. After typing the password, the desktop flshed open like a lightning strike. Browsers were a flash. Photoshop, a flash. My Windows Experience score rated at 7.7. My RAM is 4 GB but the RAM speed was in the tops after disabling Hibernation by a simple command (cmd, powercfg -h off). CONCLUSION: My old laptop started to drag its feet and a SAMSUNG SSD internal hard drive speeded up everything I do on my computer work with the speed of lightning literally. I do not believe that a supercomputer would be any faster although that can be debated by many. I would not recommend a SPINNING HDD to anyone and I would not install one for free.
Some personal opinions:
1. On Windows machine, I'd recommend turning of System Restore and deleting all Sys restore files. This would free up 10 GB of space that this WORTHLESS utility takes. Rely upon only your original Windows CD and its licence.
2. Turn off Hibernation (cmd, powercfg -h off and if you want it back on, powercfg -h on).
