I love this phone! Coming from the Exhibit 4G it's a huge upgrade. If you want a cheap functional smartphone, this is the one!

The specs are basically what you might get for a 2012 phone. Not great but completely functional. It's not necessary to have a phone with higher processing power than a desktop. I believe RAM is more important (coming from a phone with basically no RAM at all). I'd love it if this phone had 2M but 1.5 isn't bad. So far its run perfectly fine with all my apps that I want to have including the RAM hungry Facebook app. Resolution also isn't great but I personally can't tell the difference. Comparing it side by side with the Note 2, resolution to me looked exactly the same. Spec wise I know its not but you could have fooled me.

There is a ton of Samsung bloatware but that is almost impossible to avoid these days. All the bloatware just screams 'root me' (problem solved).

It works. Mostly phone camera pics are facebook type material anyways so it works for that. If you are the type that thinks your phone's camera should be your only camera then this is not the phone for you.

I have no idea what others are doing to get bad battery life because so far I'm able to go 48 hours with one charge and with what I consider moderate to heavy use. (since I just got the phone and haven't put it down since.) I have not turned on any of the power saving features. I just disable any feature that I'm not currently using (bluetooth, GPS, WiFi). It only takes a second to turn it on if you need it, but those features kill your battery if you leave them on all the time.

I originally though the 4.5 inch screen would be too small. Standard now is at least 5".

First my disclaimer I'm not a cell phone fanatic, this is my fifth phone in the past 15 years and second smartphone. I pretty much only buy phones when I actually need to, and don't buy them with the intention to watch videos or to do anything way beyond talking or texting and a little bit of browsing. I am in the telecom tech industry, so I do know my way around.

I bought this phone with a mindset that I'm going to need to return it because it seems like quality control on cell phones is simply no good. It seems like for every 15 (my arbitrary number) phones of a particular model created one of them is no good in some way. I am happy to say that was not the case with this phone. I'll even go further to say that my experience with this phone...so far...has been more than delightful. As I said before I pretty much only needed a phone that will "get the job done", be reliable and pretty much the same size as the iPhone 5. The phone is all of that and has performed at or above all expectations and I have not seen any issues at all with this phone which is a surprise to me. The browsing is smooth, the calls are clear, the speaker phone is acceptable, the speed is good, and the feel of the phone is great. I don't like how they eliminated the "options" button and made it a type of button to rotate between applications. I do love how they made it possible to hide applications that are not being used, previously I have to create a junk folder and put all of them in that... But I guess that will probably be an OS feature more than a phone feature.

I see complaints about the camera image, I think the camera image is great for a 5 megapixel camera.

I just bought this phone for my wife and she loves it. I did plenty of research before buying it. She already had a Samsung Galaxy S3. The Avant screen is little bit bigger and features are the same. The avant software is a bit better. The settings are simplified and the quick links are better layed out. I own the Note 3 and this phone is right there with it, other than a smaller screen and just slightly lower resolution. If you want a great phone at a great price, this is it!!!

I bought this phone at a metro store and absolutely love it. The battery life is incredible and the phone is very fast. With 16gb of internal memory I still haven't needed to install a memory card. The store sold me a rubberized hard case which I removed because it takes away from the esthetic beauty and makes the phone too bulky. Instead, I've installed a SKINOMI Tech Skin and screen protector which is like having light armor on my phone. For those of you who rarely drop your phone I would suggest installing a SKINOMI instead of using a case. You can look at my review with pictures of the skin through my profile. Buy this phone!

While trying to switch carriers MetroPCS broke my Moto G phone by inserting the SIM card wrong and ruining the pins inside. Truth be told I was not enjoying my Moto G 4G LTE experience with the exception of the crazy 4G LTE speeds. Now that I was owed $200 for a new phone I told them that I expect compensation, because they broke my phone. The manager gave me very little issues with resolving the situation fortunately.

I walked out with this phone and after a day of use I have to say that the additional 512mb over the 1gb in similar priced phones like the Moto G makes this phone the better deal hands down. Custom roms or not (and this one does not atm), this is the better deal between the two. No matter how many hacks you might make to a Moto G or other 1gb Android phones the size and cons of the Java VM that runs on Android can't be mitigated and whatever bloatware you may find on this phone isn't enough to prevent this phone from be heads and shoulders above the comparable Moto G 4G LTE. Multitasking actually works, and force closing or just spontaneous crashing is completely gone.

I wish reviewers and blogosphere would give this phone a serious look as it is a serious contender that is being overlooked by practically everyone in the industry right now. Also the physical home button and soft buttons make a huge difference in making this feel like a REAL & responsive phone instead of a toy. I'll take the bloat and the few things that might get in my way, but for the most part I feel like it actually does indeed add to the usability of the phone instead of taking things away. Raw performance is great, but not at the expense of usability and I think Samsung actually struck a surprisingly good balance between amazing value with an amazing price.
