The tablet without a case weighs about a pound. With the IVSO case that I bought at Amazon and includes a Bluetooth keyboard, the entire package is two pounds. So for me at least, this was a great solution for my travel needs as opposed to carrying around a heavier laptop or notebook.
A Samsung sales rep had warned me to only buy a case that met the size and other specifications for a Galaxy Note 2014 and NOT what many web sites said would be ok for a Galaxy 10.1 Pro. He was totally right and this case for a Note 2014 fits perfectly. Also the keyboard is excellent and, unlike some other reviews, it has stayed in synch even after the tablet has been turned off and back on. And if I use the keyboard’s on- off switch, the tablet instantly substitutes the onscreen keyboard and vice versa. To my surprise, I'm finding that the on-screen keyboard is much easier to use than I had expected, especially with its functions for email, but for typing major documents this real keyboard even though small is much better.
The case comes with instructions on how to synch the keyboard with the tablet but no instructions on how to get the tablet into the case. You’d think that would be self-evident but for me at least it wasn't. So here’s the important point: you need to pull out a flap that is tucked in at the bottom of the area where the tablet would go (and that you’d never dream is tucked in there) and then you can insert the tablet from the bottom and reinsert the flap. Don’t do what you would do for most mobile phone cases, which is to insert the tablet in an open area of the case and then try to get the other portions to fold over. That won’t work, and you’ll probably rip the case in the process.
the keyboard is very nice not the best one i have ever used but far from the worst very responsive and the battery life is edging out on 4 days on straight.
i have very large hands and find that the keyboard has ample room for typing comfortably
The styling of the case are very nice and modern looking
the kickstand works very well and feels very secure
the leather on the keyboard feels great to me and definitely feels well made
i feel like the tablet is safe inside the case
THE REMOVABLE KEYBOARD one of the biggest pros of this case to me as you can use it on multiple devices and i do really like the keyboard
the faux leather on the outside of the case isn't the highest quality not complaining for $35 but it feels kinda cheap not really a problem
the clasp is sometimes very tricky to put together and you have to use two hands to close it
the micro usb charging port cutout gets annoying if you try to charge and use the tablet as you cant use the kickstand with it charging or open it fully basically you have to plug it in either case closed tablet unusable or case open not close able it does get annoying but not a deal breaker
the faux leather on the outside feels loose sometimes could cause premature wear in the future i don't really like that about the case it makes it feel cheap
it roughly doubles the thickness of the tablet but that's to be expected with a keyboard case
all that said i still think that the IVSO Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio... case is a great buy for $35 dollars if your looking for a keyboard case you cant really go wrong with this especially as if you don like the case you could get a different one like a slim case and keep using the keyboard a definite buy for so cheap
Overall quality appears nice. Leather/vinyl and stitching so far appear solid, straight and without blemishes or errors. Everywhere there is a control, button or camera that needs to be accessed is uncovered and easy to get to. Kickstand works well on a table and puts the screen at a pretty good angle for laptop style use.
Some areas of improvement:
1) The hinge section between tablet and keyboard is a little soft. I worry that after repeated use this will wear and potentiall tear.
2) The kickstand can be a little stiff when trying to put it back into a closed position.
3) This is kind of a big issue - There is a "lock" button on the top right of the keyboard. This key is RIGHT BESIDE the backspace key. I've found it VERY easy to hit this key when typing and trying to hit the backspace key to fix a typing mistake. When you hit this key, you basically lock your Note and the screen goes off. Now you have to wake it back up and unlock it again. A REAL pain in the butt depending on what you are trying to do. I'm about to superglue this button to keep it from being used since it serves NO other purpose other than to lock your device.
