I did order a new cable and it was as good as the first cable that I ordered.
These cables cost much less than you'll spend for a lunch. Get a spare or two.
I'm removing my pictures. The company selling them now is a different company and shouldn't catch any blame for the bad cable I received.

UPDATE 6/6/12
My new cable came in and was a major disappointment (See the pictures at the top of the product page).
The SAMSUNG cover on the wide connector that attaches to the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 pulls off with the slightest pull when trying to disconnect it from the Tab. If that were the only problem I would have kept the cable and just glued it in place.
The real killer was at the USB end of the cable - there is no protective rubber "boot" on the cable where it goes into the USB housing ***AND*** the shielding within the cable, as it goes into the USB housing, is exposed.
Other minor differences were a low grade finish on the metal parts, the cable/connector itself has been manufactured differently, and a slightly lower grade USB logo on the USB housing.
With everything taken together I'm not too sure that *this* is a real SAMSUNG cable. The first one that they sent was fine, so I'll order another one after the refund. And you can bet that I'll look it over very carefully!

This is so handy that I ordered a 3rd one. One for work, one for my van, and one for home.

This cable works perfectly with my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
It'll charge the Tab while plugged into my desktop *slowly* as I use it, **BUT** that's because a desktop/laptop USB is designed to provides less current.
When used with the Samsung 110 charger, or the
RND Power Solutions Dual Black USB car charger for Tablets
which provides 2.1 amps it works as well as the original.
Buy several and you won't need to keep track of where you left it.
