Keeps me notified that i'm being lazy.....a LOT.... :)
Some apps (Message+) will not allow you to reply on your watch. Message App does. if you use Message+, your Message App will not show updated messages.
Group Messages that come in only reply to the last person who texted. (This may be a setting on the watch, however i use message+ so doesn't matter much anyways)
S voice keeps chiming up 'I can't hear you' or showing me 3/4 of my conversation i was having with someone else. somehow I must have activated that.
if you like to fold your arms, and you touch the watch face, you've now opened it up...depending on what you're doing, how your sitting with your arms, or how much movement you have with your arms, you'll be likely to launch an app, "Arm Dial" someone, or kick off something else. it's a constant thing now to pay attention to how i fold my arms.
Alerts/notifications are a little bit of a pain...but once you get them you'll be ok.
You have to manage the watch with the Samsung app....meaning if you want the most out of the watch, you need a Samsung Phone...You can use other android devices....but you lose features.
Watch face options aren't great
Application options are very minimal
My watch is a factory refurbished. Not sure if they've fixed the plug breaking issue that many people complain about, but i don't have any issues with it.
Keeps tracks of my exercise (or lack thereof) and emails me a weekly status and report.
connects to wireless and allows me to take calls if my phone is in another room.
I can reply to texts (Message+ excluded) using default Message app on Samsung phone
I know it does more stuff...but to be honest...this was my entry level into smartwatches. We're not quite 'there' yet with them....but we are well on our way. I just wish they didn't go back to the circular faces on them. That's the main reason i bought this one...round faces don't make a good application interface option from a user/GUI perspective.
The larger face allows for larger easy to read watch faces, it can BT pair with a ear piece speaker if you need privacy taking/making your calls. It can also connect to your Wi-Fi router. Which I believe is how I imported my contacts from my main cellphone? I can't remember exactly.
The OEM battery charger adapter has a battery built-in so when you charge your watch you also top off the external battery/adapter. The aftermarket adapter I bought as a spare backup did not have the external battery built in it. So be aware of that. The aftermarket adapter is 12$ and the Samsung is 29$ and that's the difference in price.
I have the Moto 360, Gear2 and this Gear S watch, while the Moto 360 can be wireless charged, and the Gear 2 has far superior watch faces, I still reach for this Gear S when heading out. The charge lasts at least a day and a half with moderate or better use, if I remember to turn off Wi-Fi when leaving the house.
-Looks sleek and classy
-Great for any and all notifications you wish to receive
-Decent battery life (lasts 2 to 3 days with normal use)
-Very helpful when driving/motorcycle/bike riding/any activity really where you don't want to have to pull your phone out
-Sim card can be inserted for stand alone phone use
-Square face, basically a smaller version of your phone
-Only made for bigger wrists
-Not many apps for it
-can only be used with Samsung
Honestly, this watch perfectly fit my needs. I receive a lot of texts and calls for work, and I like to be able to screen them. The apps are lacking, but unless you want to play with your watch all day, you won't notice. I bought this instead of the S2 because of the square screen, for both viewing and the fact that it looks like a smartwatch, versus trying to pretend it's a normal watch, which it is not.
If you have a Samsung phone I highly recommend this.
