What is an unlocked phone?
An unlocked phone is a device that is not bound to any carrier or plan. It allows you to choose your phone first and your carrier second. Upon selecting a plan, simply insert the carrier's SIM card into the phone and you're ready to go. If you decide you want to change carriers down the road or want to take an international trip, it's as simple as replacing your existing SIM card with a new SIM and activating your new plan.
What are the benefits of an unlocked phone?
Freedom: Choose the carrier with the best service or price. If you find a better deal later, you have the ability to change to a different carrier.
Travel: Take your phone internationally and use the carrier of your choice. It's as easy as inserting an active SIM card.
Selection: Choose the phone with the features you want, whether or not your carrier sells it, and get more service options without a contract.
How do I set up my unlocked phone?
The first thing you’ll need is a SIM card for your desired carrier. When activated, the SIM card will let your phone connect to your carrier’s network. If you decide to upgrade to a newer unlocked phone in the future, you can easily remove the SIM card from your old phone and put it in your new phone—just make sure you get the right size of SIM card (nano, micro, or standard) for your phone. If you want to use your phone while traveling internationally, you can easily buy a SIM card for a carrier that operates where you’re traveling. As long as it’s activated, you can just swap SIM cards when you arrive at your destination.

I did not think it was possible for a phone, as new and advanced as the S5, to NOT have 4G capability.
The first month I owned the phone, I thought I wasn't getting 4G due to poor network connections. Then I finally looked at my friend's phone, an older Samsung Note 3, and saw he had 4G. We both have the same network.
Then I reread the specifications. Now I realized, why they included so much nonsense specifications such as: "B10 (E-GSM 900MHz), B13 (DCS 1,800MHz), B14 (PCS 1,900MHz) 3G UMTS B1 (IMT 2,100MHz), B2 (PCS 1,900MHz), B5 (US 850MHz Cellular), B8 (GSM 900MHz)"
Have you ever read one cell phone review, mentioning any of the above specifications? No. All they are trying to do is HIDE the fact that it DOES NOT contain 4G.
Thankfully, I called Amazon, complained, and as Amazon always seems to do, they saved the day by accepting a return with FULL refund =).
Just FYI,Samsung S5 SM-G900H translates into NO 4G. You have to purchase the S5 SM-G900F in order to get 4G.
Same price, too.
I have no clue why they are selling a phone as advanced as the S5, WITHOUT 4G, and at the SAME PRICE, no less.
If you HATE 4G, then this phone is for you. ;)
No one tried to make a resolution!!
It is now September 15th, 2015. Two months later, I am updating this, as I am home from the store with a new phone.
I'm really very, VERY irritated and upset with this device now. Allow me to go through the things that are wrong with this device.
First, it was the battery. The battery life sucks. I go through a work day, 9 hours, barely using it (because I'm working, obviously), and I will have a 5% battery by the end of the day. Batteries go bad, though. No biggie. "I'll buy another battery sometime," I thought.
Also, I discovered that since it is the "International" version, it has issues and does not connect to 4G. Which is fine, I have a plan with 1 GB of 4G that they give to you for "free" or something. But "international" also means that it connects to E and H+ whatever the heck those are. 3G? BAHAHAHA. I think I've connected to 3G maybe 20 times the whole time I've owned the thing.
Visiting my husband's family in reeeeeeeeeally far down Kentucky, and get a signal? Naw. But he does! He does not have an "International" phone, though.
Then the calls. I can barely hear anyone, and they can barely hear me because it sounds like there's a helicopter on my end.
Next it was the alarms. They stopped working. What the heck? I've been late to work 4 times now because my alarms didn't go off. I realized AFTER that, a few days I had woken up early, and my alarms just didn't ring. I thought that it was me sliding the snooze button!
Now the music has stopped playing. Completely. The screen is dim. The camera is horrifyingly bad, and honestly has been bad since I got it, but it's gotten worse.
Look, I have no problems with refurbished phones, I've had them before and they've been great...but this thing lasted 2 months. This is the first phone that has not lasted me at least 2 years. I feel really freakin' cheated for paying $300 for this thing.
I would ask for a replacement but....it's just ruined for me. So I got a new phone.
That being said...if you purchase this phone and it is NOT a refurb...I think it will be a really, really good phone, it has some really good features. I had hoped it would be a good phone for me. But it is not.
