The 42mm watch is large for my very tiny wrists but still comfortable. I really like the rotating bezel to find apps etc. My garmin 735xt was out for repair so i ordered this for the calling features but my first impression is that garmin is still better for tracking sports. Also I like to do sprint tris and the samsung galaxy wont track a tri. I also love that my 735xt battery lasts for 7 days or so. The galaxy seems like I will need to charge it every night. Its a much more attractive watch than the 735xt and i like the barometer and altimeter.
I was considering the fenix 5s plus because it has maps and music but it is very pricey. This watch has maps, but they come loaded with only a Korean gps location and so far I cant get it to load my location. I was hoping to use this feature while biking and running but Im not sure this is possible.
I swapped the band already because I really didnt like the one it came with.
This watch comes in a 4g lte version. I considered this so I could run without my phone, but decided against it since you need to pay another fee to your cellular provider to use it without your phone to make and receive calls. I havent tried loading music on the phone yet but have used the watch to forward and pause tracks while running with i heart radio.
I also loaded the navigation app that goes with Google maps. That works so when you set a use google maps on your phone your watch navigates your route
One of the main reasons i decided on this watch is because I could answer calls on it while working without pulling out my phone. This worked great until the last update, now my watch only buzzes and doesnt tell me who is calling and gives no options for answering. Also I tried to use the find my car app and it doesnt seem to work. The touch screen is lagging sometimes. Also while working out it doesnt seem to read my hear rate. Also I tried to reset the watch and I cant even do that. I am seriously considering returning it even though I loved it for the first 2 weeks.
I have used many smart watches and fitness trackers. I currently have a FitBit Versa and Charge HR, and an Apple Watch Series 3 + Cellular. This Galaxy Watch takes the cake. It does everything the rest do, and then some. The model I have is not cellular, however within bluetooth range you can make calls and text through it. The battery life lasts DAYS, which is a MAJOR difference between this and my Apple Watch which was my old favorite. The Apple Watch lasts a day and a half at best, which becomes irritating having to charge so frequently.
Something else this does that the Apple Watch and FitBit do not, is a altimeter and barometer. This little touch is fun to play with, and could be especially useful when on a hike.
The Samsung Health app that pairs with the Galaxy Watch is one of the best fitness and health apps I've used. It aggregates all of the information into one easy to read location. It will show you your steps, your average heart rate, and your minutes active. If you wear it to sleep it will track your sleep patterns and break it down into sleep time and break it down into light sleep, deep sleep and time awake, which is extremely handy.
It also supports Samsung Pay, so you can leave your wallet in the car or at home and stop somewhere to pick up a snack/drink while out and about. I find this useful when I go on a jog, so I don't have to take anything extra with me.
I highly recommend this watch. It's stylish, and offers far more features than the competition!
