HOWEVER, I will say to beware if you have any missing parts, because Samsung CS is a NIGHTMARE to deal with!
When assembling my speakers, I noticed they forgot to send me one of the five needed speaker wires that are seperate from the speaker units (the subwoofer one is attached). Samsung speaker wires are proprietary, with little plastic ends on them, so you can't just go down to your local A/V store (or Best Buy, or Radio Shack, etc.) to replace one...NOBODY sells them. In fact, SAMSUNG doesn't even sell them seperately!
So I contacted CS about my problem...thinking it would be no issue to send me out a $5 (if that!) replacement wire. WRONG! They started making me jump through hoops, first asking me if the box arrived already opened, if I checked all the packaging, etc., etc. Then the CS made me give him the serial number off the back of the unit. So far, annoying, but okay. Then he told me I had to email all the info I'D JUST GIVEN THEM to Samsung, including a JPG of my Amazon receipt. Okay, now I'm mildly annoyed. The next day I get an email back from Samsung asking me to email all the above information ONCE AGAIN to another email address! Finally, they inform me it will take UP TO 14 DAYS to process my request, and then they'll decide if I'm worthy of getting their precious propritary wire. Then, if I've proven I haven't lied to them about possibly the cheapest (but necessary!) item in this set, they'll send me my wire in another 7 to 10 days...meaning I have to wait almost a MONTH to get my home theater set up properly.
So I've given up and spent extra money to order a complete set of the wires from a third-party seller here on AMAZON (glad to see SOMEONE sells them!). I'm going to wind up with four extra wires, but at least I'll have backups if anything ever happens to the ones I have. In the meantime, I'm not hooking up my rear speakers so I can still use the home theater until my replacement wire arrives.
WHY Samsung feels the need to make proprietary speaker wires that you can't find anywhere and WHY their customer service is so hard to deal with is anyone's guess (it's not like I was asking them to replace a speaker or the Blu-ray player...which, frankly, I would have just shipped the unit back to Amazon if that were an issue). Just thought this thread deserved a comment about how much trouble you can run into if you have any problems with the unit.
Otherwise, as always, top-notch delievery from Amazon on this one.
This system is half the price and twice as good. The bass rumbles the whole house. The dialogue in movies and tv is easy to hear. The wireless rear speakers are one of the main reasons I decided on this system. The entire set-up was very easy and sounds awesome even though I don't have the speakers in ideal locations. I read other reviews about using heavier gauge speaker wire but I am completely satisfied with the sound as it is.
My only complaints are the remote and the instruction manual. The different functions, such as 3d surround, Dolby, switching inputs, etc., are not well explained.
The Blu-ray player is really nice and supports many different formats.
Overall I'm very happy with this system. I've owned Yamaha and other higher end systems in the past that were good. This system is just as good at a considerably lower price.
I had a four disk blu-ray set, disk four stopped playing in both of my pc blu-ray drives and would no longer play on my PS3.
I don't know why but, it plays just fine on my Samsung HT-E6500.
Picture and movie quality is above what I am use too. I can't think of a single thing I don't like about it, cept for maybe one thing...
It's a minor tick but annoying as hell. I read about this in another review and thought it was odd but not a deal breaker.
When you first turn on the Samsung HT-E6500 you may notice it is still on the last source or input channel you left it on, but wait..
With in maybe 5-10 seconds it changes to the default input of digital in. At this point you pick up the remote and TOGGLE through all of the input sources till you reach the one you want. This may not seem like a big deal right? It isn't really. I imagine in a year or so that my TV SOURCE button may stop working after all this use. I believe that a simple software/firmware upgrade could easily stomp out the one and only thing I don't like about the Samsung HT-E6500.
It's a sexy looking system, works great, does more than I expected by far, easy as hell to use, and Im still discovering all the options the Samsung HT-E6500 has to offer.
I would buy it all over again!
Netflix, Pandora, Bluray, USB reader, WiFi and wireless speakers are awesome to have all in one unit and work fairly well.
The plastic speakers that come in the box though, sound chesty and cheap at least for music.
They might be ok for movies which is what the system was intended for but i wanted to use it for music too.
So i upgraded the front speakers with a pair of Polk Audio RtiA1.
Now if you want to do that, know that the system is rated 165W but at 3Ohms; that means that if you want to upgrade to better sounding speakers you're looking at much less than that, considering most speakers(like my Polks) are rated 8 Ohms
(that would cut actual Wattage to a fraction of the claimed 165, more like 40W?).
Moreover the main unit has proprietary connections to speakers so that makes upgrade difficult, i had to cut and solder new wire to adapt new speakers, i mean it gets complicated.
Maybe i was expecting too much from the product but i got it refurbished at low price so i'm ok with it.
It might just work for you if you're not looking for perfect clear open sound but just enjoy a movie with an easy setup and decent bass and sorround effect.
