Top Customer Reviews
The moment I opened the package I knew there was something that is not right and that I had received a Cheap Chinese imitation. The items I received were not in original packaging but packed in a small plastic case (The micro SD and the SD Adapter), this and the supposedly "SANDISK mobilemate" were in a ziploc bag, i.e. there was no original carton or blister packaging as you would normally get with any good quality memory like Kingston, SanDisk or Samsung. I proceeded to testing the micro SD, first tried fitting it to the supplied micro SD adapter it would barely go in, I pushed it through and plugged into my Mac. I could see the memory but could not write to it!!!! I made sure that the Lock notch is not set to lock. So the SD adapter supplied was defective!!! Then I had to struggle hard to get the micro SD out of the adapter.
Next I examined the supposedly "SanDisk" mobileMate USB reader, it was advertised like that when I placed the order. It turned out to be a cheap chinese $0.5 copy like the ones sold on cheap Chinese sites, it has nothing to do with SanDisk so here again I was deceived and there was false advertising from Komputer Bay.
I examined the SD card more closely and found that the part number printed at the back is totally different from the Samsung part numbers on Samsung website and the Samsung printing on the front face is silk screened.
I will now be working on escalating my complaint and possibly seeking legal action.
To be fair, had several of these and none are worth much for long term, if at all unless u get a well-reviewed, more expensive version. The Kingston tiny cheap slide-in version failed after a short time, so did the other really cheap feeling one a friend gave me to try after getting sick of theirs not working well. They have laptop so just use the SD adapters which don't have this problem as far as I can tell.
The Transcend adapter is the best so far, which is slightly larger and card slides in to the 'top' of the rectangle in relation to the usb plug-in, rather than straight into the 'back', as this type. Just had to add some explaination; in case it helps someone else out there make a better decision, going in.
