I usually only buy new but in this case purchased a used model for $269.00 because the new models were $100 more.
I read the complaints over the blurry HDMI problems and I read the solution a user posted to correct the issue before I purchased this model.
I did not test out the built in speakers via hdmi connection because I utilize actual PC speakers so I can not comment on their volume/quality.
Because this is a TV on a stand (not necessarily a bad thing) I had to set it up like a TV via the remote. Without problems it switched over to a crystal clear 1080P 60mhz resolution without me having to mess around with tv or pc controls. I utilize nVidia cards over ATI so I can only speak to setting things up from nVidia's POV. nVidia settings auto set the system to 1080p and in the nVidia control panel it had all the easy to find settings to adjust any settings i wanted (resolution, color, contrast, image quality ect.)
I fired up Battlefield 3 running on ULTRA settings to test out the tv/monitors ability to keep up with the game (looking for tearing or display lag) I did not experience any problems (VSYNC ON), image quality was top notch, no frame shuddering on quick turns. Since the display preformed well I did not test out the game mode setting via tv setup options. (I have to run game mode on my TV with my Xbox/PS3 to prevent tearing and stuttering from the tv's 120mhz refresh rate)
(I did try Skyrim (also on ULTRA settings) but due to bugs I crash to desktop.)
Currently only thing I don't like was the fact the remote that came with tv/monitor is the same as the one for my Samsung TV so when i was setting it up it was messing with my tv as well. not a deal breaker but meh.
when playing games that switch resolution a box pops up on the screen telling me the source resolution and refresh rate ... again it only happened at the start of games and didn't occur again during game play it's just a pet peeve of mine (I could care less what mode/freq/rate my tv operates in I just want it to display).
In closing, I am very happy with my purchase. It's big! it's easy to see! and its got tons of connectors in the back to wire in other things should I need to.
As far as the response time of 5ms, it is crazy good for any quality, in-depth graphic game you want to play. Don't get a cheaper monitor with a response time of 1ms thinking it would do you any good because quite frankly, you can't even tell the difference between these two intervals and a cheaper monitor is not going to give you the same picture quality. You will get shaded and noisy blacks which are very noticeable. Who needs a faster response with really bad picture quality? The only way to tell the difference in "Ms" is if you run a computer diagnostic on the monitors to test them for speed.
If you need a MONITOR, buy this and don't look back. It is even 100$ cheaper then when I first bought it. It's a super sweet deal for a phenomenal product.
