This fridge makes LOUD popping noises (probably metal or plastic expanding/contracting). Samsung says the loud popping sound is "normal". Give me a break! A sound that shoots you out of your chair is "normal"?! Samsung has used cheap materials in manufacturing and won't man up and fix the problem. I’ve found dozens of other customers with the same issue (one person said a repair guy FINALLY found the issue after 3 house calls. It was a back plate behind the heat exchanger that was flimsy metal). The solution Samsung gave me was that I call a service center. If they find a problem the service center can bill Samsung, if not, it's out of my pocket. I've had this fridge for 3 months. Thanks for the great product and service Samsung (yeah, that's heavy sarcasm).

Purchased this fridge - rf261beaesr/aa in July. It's now August. The features are all nice and the fridge does as expected. Really like many things it does. Nice size, good color, keeps things cold. There is an "added feature" however that isn't mentioned. An extremely loud popping noise. Samsung claims it is normal expanding/contracting as the unit cools etc. Did I mention it's loud? Yes, like someone snuck up behind you and banged something in your ear. You will literally jump. It's very fun! We wait for it to scare the dog so we can watch her shake. Samsung stands by their product - just not too close in case the noise pops. Good luck.

BTW - I posted this same review on Samsung's site but it probably won't make it past their censors. I ignored the other reviews and am sorry I did. Heed the warnings. The popping is real, unpredictable, and loud!

Sometimes this refrigerator sounds like a fight a the bad guys hide out between Batman and the Joker.

This refrigerator does keep things cool as advertised and it seems to be well constructed. However, the banging noises it makes are really annoying. We called the service department to request a repair and they told us the noises are normal. NO FREAKING WAY did Samsumg install a noise generating feature in their refrigerators just for the purpose of annoying their customers. Just because it happens a lot with many different machines does not mean it is "normal". It just means it is a bad design. If they fixed the noise problem I would not hesitate to buy another refrigerator like this. Other than the noises, and Samsung refusing to do anything about it, I'm happy with the product.

Your mileage may vary.

Fridge makes loud popping noises throughout the day and night which Samsung refuses to repair or acknowledge as unusual.
Stay away, it will keep you awake at night.

Ice maker dumped ice in frozen together clumps within a couple of months after purchase. Called customer service and their solution was to shake the ice tray everytime ice fell. Seriously, do they think I am going to stand there all day waiting for ice to fall and shake the bucket? After several months of trying different things, and paying more than $500 in service visits, it was determined by the last technician that the rear support for the icemaker was broken. It was leaning so water was spilling across the cube dividers and freezing into one clump. The technician said the anchor was a molded piece and could not be replaced. Technician filed an unrepairable ticket with Samsung and said they should replace or refund me for the refrigerator. He warned me that Samsung customer service would give me the run around trying to get me to give up, and he said to be persistent. They put me through their customer service grinder for three weeks and ended up coming back saying it was due to customer abuse. The only way one could possibly break the rear support would be to cral into the freezer compartment and hit it with a hammer. I can assure you I did not do that. Now I have turned to the BBB for help. Take a look at the other Samsung refrigerator reviews on Amazon, and you will see low ratings. Let me tell you that those low ratings are warranted.

FYI, My husband and I purchased a French Door refrigerator model # : RF260BEAESR/AA on August 16, 2014. On the night of 9/28/2014, this refrigerator stopped providing cooling in both the freezer and the fridge compartments. This happened overnight. 9/28/2014 was a Sunday and I do my weekly food shopping on Sundays. So most of the groceries were lost. The cost of which was approximately $167.00. A major inconvenience, but this refrigerator is under warranty and it should be repaired quickly. The repairman came on 10/1/2014 and determined that both the main board of the refrigerator and the condenser fan were not functioning at all. Of course he did not have both parts, so the condenser fan had to be ordered. He returned on 10/7/2014 to replace the condenser fan. At that time we were without a functioning refrigerator for 10 days. So being reasonably intelligent people we purchased ice to keep the new groceries which we purchased, cold enough to consume. 10 days and we had to spend $60.00 on ice to keep our food cold enough for the family to eat. We contacted Samsung to submit a Food Loss inventory and bill. We were contacted and told that Samsung would not pay for the entire amount. We were told, quote... "Samsung will not pay for ice because it is water and Samsung does not pay for water." In addition Samsung will not pay for any food loss unless we agree to accept only the amount of $167.00. We contacted the Massachusetts Attorney General's office of Consumer Advocacy. When this office contacted Samsung to attempt to mediate the claim, Samsung rejected any contact. Now we purchased this refrigerator, a MAJOR APPLIANCE in every home and it FAILED in 6 weeks of usage. The condenser fan was put in improperly and the Main board computer system failed. In 6 Weeks!Read more ›
