Top customer reviews

-Stereo audio for calls
-No lag for videos
-Good sound with clear highs and thumping bass (not as warm and distinct as Bose SpoundSport Free but still above average). Onboard playback using lossless files sounds better than streaming (less compressed)
-Good battery life but plan on charging these daily
-Has quick charge. 10 min provides 1 hr, with the case providing an extra 5-7 hr stint (less than AirPods' 15 min for 3 hrs quick charge, with more than 24 hrs from the case)
-Range of intuitive gesture controls
-Can use Google Assistant, Bixby or S Voice (not restricted to S Voice like the S3 running Tizen 2.x)
-Neat features: Onboard storage, Find My Gear, read notifications aloud (it can read Summary "Messenger" or Full "Messenger, [sender], [message]"), fitness coach
-Easy to pair, set up and update firmware wirelessly
-Gestures take some getting used to (I found it better to swipe up/down from center to off the edge of the touchpad)
-Occasional dropouts when walking/jogging with phone in my left arm band, but no dropouts when it's on my right arm
-Ambient Sound sounds canny and picks up wind noise
-There is white noise when playback is stopped and Ambient Sound is on (less with Ambient Sound off and playback stopped). Not something you want to leave in your ear all day or when driving
-Using one bud only allows streaming and notifications (no onboard playback, coach or Ambient Sound. You'd have to keep the other one nearby and out of the case to use all features)
-No auto-sync for newly added music like the Gear S3
-No noise cancellation but the buds provide a good seal
-No heart rate monitor
-No wall adapter in box
-No pair/power button. Need to carry case to pair/power off. They will drain if left out of the case/ear. They don't sleep even though there's a sensor to stop playback when removed from ear, though this can get tricked with the buds are in a pocket. You're forced to carry the case with you
-The case is bulky (I leave it at home)
-The case turns the earbuds off after a minute which can get in the way of setup and transfers
-Updating firmware requires 30%+ charge and these did not come charged so prepare to wait
-Can hurt if worn improperly. I have to twist it backwards so the wingtips fit just right. Once there they stay in place during my runs
-3.4GB free storage on each bud shown in PC file manager. Mirroring files locally on both buds will save battery life from streaming and eliminate dropouts. Use the IconX PC Manager or Gear app to transfer music as these will automatically mirror tracks. Bluetooth transfers are slow and can only do one track at a time. Up to three lists (Tracks, Workout, Favorites)
Pricey but worth it if you plan to use it daily. If you can wait then the price will drop to $150 after a few months then $100 after a year like the previous gen.
Sound: these are fantastic. Not a lot of bass, but clear sounds nonetheless. Could had been better. 4 stars.
Note: changing the sound quality with the equalizer settings has fixed the sound quality. Recommend it if you know how to use it.
Connection: 5 stars. No complains.
Calling: Same as using your phone to call. They don't give any problems. 5 stars.
Ambient sound: Sounds as if you were going through a water fall. You can hear, no doubt. But, you'll hear things louder than usual and yes, they sound weird when you talk. 3.5 stars.
Battery: Fixed from the 2016 issue with a shut down button. So far, you can keep your charges for a week or more (by using the shut down button). They do allow 5 hours of power (tested). 5 stars
Single piece: You have to go into settings and change your sound option to mono if you're using one. You can still use some features (functions) with just one of them. They're both touch sensitive. 5 stars.
Sensitivity: you will get used to them. However, if moving or placing them on, they do activate rather quickly. They're not bad, unless you're that person who sweats and needs to dry up. 4 stars
Feel: they are comfortable after you switch the wing tips to the right size. They're very small in actual size. After a while you'll actually forget you're using them. But I want to address something. The small plastic on the top where the wing tips are is very uncomfortable. It will irritate your ears. My recommendation is to move the buds clock wise and counter clock wise until you can't feel it anymore. However, after a while, you'll feel it again. 3.5 stars.
Find my gear: These are not GPS enabled. However, they give out a sound that you can hear (not loud). They'll beep for 3 minutes and then stop. They need to put more effort into this feature. This is the main thing that these buds will need. They're not loud enough to hear if it's under your couch.. 2 stars.
Overall: the performance on these buds are amazing once you get used to it. You do have to mess with it for a while.
Extra info: these buds will have another issue (all earphones has this problem). Your earwax and sweat will cause the gears to sound lower than normal. I recommend cleaning the grill that covers the speakers if that happens.
Also, the battery does slowly drain from the case. So you will need to shut them off using the shut down button on the top where the wing tips are. It's behind the plastic point. Hold it for 7 seconds with a paper clip or a needle to shut them off.
