1) The monitor is perfectly calibrated at the factory and shipped with the best settings
2) Buy a high quality DP 1.4 cable, if you plan on getting the best from this monitor and your video card. Its the only way to run its DP 1.2+(the cable that comes with is not DP 1.4) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSV3B4L/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
3) Download the latest graphics driver for your videocard to make sure your cards software has control over brightness, contrast and gamma... as Windows likes to take control of them and keep them from changing anything, when you enable HDR.
4) Enable HDR in Windows 10, without doing so, the monitor will not run in HDR(the monitor will say HDR when showing the input and in its menu under info)
5) Adjust brightness, contrast and gamma to your liking under display settings(again... Windows, for some odd reason, halves the monitors brightness when enabling HDR). Also, play with the color enhancement settings, if your videocard supports it(I have a 1080 and it does). It will get those brightness levels back and make it look even better than it did prior to enablng HDR.
Doing what I mentioned above will get you the brightest, most colorful picture youve ever seen. Using the DP 1.4 cable allows for the best that your videocard has to offer at 144hz and 3840x1080, with clear, sharp text, no matter how big or small you like it. I own a recording and video production studio and this monitor allows me to have every function on the screen at once, improving productivity exponentially, eliminating the need to menu surf to find and use what you are looking for. The inclusion of the screen split software helps to divide the screen, any way you want. Videos and games also look incredible on this monitor. It is big, so you will want a rather large desk or to buy a floor stand to sit behind the desk. When set it up correctly, it is very bright. Almost double that of competing products. So you will want to sit a little bit further away than normal. Though it fills your peripheral vision, so you wont ever miss a thing. It also has a backlight, that can help with eye strain, along with a night setting which lowers blue levels and warms the picture to do the same.
If you work in the film, game, finance or music industry... you cannot beat the real estate that this monitor affords you. It helps you work more efficiently and accomplish twice as much in half the time. The ultra wide screen allows all the apps you need opened, to do so side by side with room to spare. Im so enamored by it... Im thinking about buying a second one to do even more.
I cant say enough good things about this monitor. Its the only one of its kind and goes above and beyond my wildest expectations. The HDR brings out more color and brightness than anything else on the market. Everytime I turn it on, Im amazed.
Out of box everything worked great. Win 7 has so issues dealing with multi monitors that can be resolved by using win 10 but I'm just not ready to let my win 7 go just yet. and after a few reboot and icon positioning everything will calm down in a week or so.
Color on this beast is great, they did supply a color calibration report, and in the future i will be doing color tests and cals when i have a few days to mess with it, But its nice to have something to look at when i do the actual cal my self to see if this was actually done or just a default cal was used, Ill update when i do it. I noticed the better color difference right away compared to my 2 dells and visio.
I was on the fence about getting this monitor because of some reviews about text looked fuzzy.. Like it is on the visio (reg 60in lcd tv). From what i understand that is due to pixel pitch or dot pitch (don't quote me i just remember reading about it). If you look at a icon on a tv lcd you will see what looks like a shadow around text and icons. This effect is like color miss registration and gives me a headache. BUT thank the heavens its not happening on this baby.
Normal surfing is ok and the desk top space is awesome. Multitasking is sweet and having 3 or 4 windows open on 1 screen is fantastic.
But were this beauty excels is GAMING and on star Citizen it looks awesome. My field of vision is awesome. At the distance I sit it fills from left to right almost perfectly. Allowing me to not have to move around so much. I now do not feel like I'm playing with blinders on and missing everything around me. Since i have 3 other viewing sources I dont have to use this screen for videos or surfing just gaming.
This baby is not all that heavy compared to both my dells together this guy is feather light.
The stand is what to be expected but does move in all directions and i may not have to put it on a separate raised platform like i did with my dells, I will miss the space for storage under the screen but its a small price to pay.
I have not used the audio pass through as of yet because my my system is close and no need to have any more cables then i need.
The bezel is thin so if i had 2 it would be almost seamless.
Ok now for a issue i have found .. if you look at the driver property's it shows a generic PnP monitor, so I down loaded the driver from Samsung site and installed the DP driver. Instantly I lost all ability to use my visio on the HDMI connection. it wanted to set the visios res to 3840x1080 which is a big no no and would crash my video card/driver. I would wait the 10 sec to revert and all my icons were spread all over. After a few trys to get it to work, I just uninstalled the driver. Rebooted, fused with my icons and window placements, rebooted a few more times to lock it all in place and all back to normal.. May be samsung can tell me why that did that. I did notice that when i did the driver install it asked me what source I wanted to install the driver on and it showed my 2 dells and then the 2 generic PnP sources. Since i didn't know what source was which I pulled the HDMI connector out and selected the only 1 generic PnP device and installed the DP driver to that one... Thats were it all went wrong Once i plugged my visio back it grabbed that Samsung DP driver. But uninstalling that DP driver reverted it all back to normal.
So a note to all always try default before blindly installing software drivers. and never install lots of stuff at one time. this way you can uninstall back if you have issues.
ALL in ALL it was worth the 979.99 I paid. Because back in 2007 i bought my 2707WFPs for 999.99 each and that was a great deal for those at that time and they still work great except that DVI is becoming a old connector type and rarely can find new 1080s with 2 dvi ports. Plus 2 27in monitors are almost this cost anyway why buy 2 when for a tad bit more you get the 2 in one with no bezel.
Yes i know you could buy a ACER predator or what ever but I wanted 49inchs not 34. LOL.
If i had another 979.99 I would consider dumping my 2 dells.
I will update in the future about color cal and basic use.

The 32:9 aspect ratio is something else to experience. Wish it was the higher resolution model (CRG9 @ 5120x1440) but I couldn't justify the price, and my PC wouldn't be able to play games at that resolution anyways, so I'm OK with this one.
Disappointed with the flickering issues.
TLDR: Don't buy Samsung product. Their warranty support is awful.
Contacted amazon: Told me to contact Samsung. Contacted Samsung (all those conversations repeating myself for 2 hours each time). Schedule a pick up with fedex (which the pick up is only schedulable by phone). They got the monitor, waited a week for an answer. "Physical dmg" is not covered. Price for repaire: 1030$. Contact amazon. Amazon says: "We cannot take the item back since it doesn't cover *you* breaking the item.
I am now waiting on samsung for a review of their repair cost since it makes no sense. Please don't buy this monitor. It's too fragile and impossible to reimburse if anything happens. It's a 1000$ down the drain.
