Transfer in a flash, secure with a touch
Whether you're storing critical business documents, games, or movies, the Portable SSD T7 Touch gives you speed and security in a palm-sized package. Experience the next level of external storage, available in three capacities to suit your needs: 500GB, 1TB, or 2TB.
Keep your private files secure without sacrificing convenience. The built-in security options on the T7 Touch utilize AES 256-bit encryption and give you the option of unlocking with a touch of your finger or with a password.
Blazing fast storage
Transfer massive files in seconds with the incredible speed of USB 3.2 Gen 2 on the T7 Touch. With read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, the T7 Touch is 9.5x faster than an external hard disk drive** (HDD) and twice as fast as the T5***.
LED status indicator
The T7 Touch features an LED square that illuminates to keep you informed of what your SSD is doing at a glance. The LED lights turn on and off and rotates during data transfers.
Unlike HDDs, the T7 Touch SSD has no moving parts so it's more resistant to shock. Plus, its solid aluminum unibody construction adds further protection, keeping your data safe from falls of up to 6 ft****.
Sleek and compact style
Roughly the size of a credit card and only weighing 2 ounces, the T7 Touch fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is light enough to take your files on the go. Choose from classic black or stylish silver.
T7 Touch comes embedded with software to help you set up a password and fingerprints†. Get the latest firmware updates from your PC, Mac, or Android mobile devices. You can also download the mobile app for Android smartphones and tablets††.
Samsung Flash Memory
Since 2002‡ Samsung has been providing superior performance and reliability for flash memory. All firmware and components, including Samsung's world-renowned DRAM and NAND, are produced in-house, allowing end-to-end integration for quality you can trust.
*T7 Touch is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Compatibility with host devices may vary. Some operating systems may require T7 Touch reformatting. Please find the compatible devices list on the manufacturers' website.
**Performance may vary depending on host configuration. To reach maximum read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, respectively, the host device and connection cables must support USB 3.2 Gen 2 and the UASP mode must be enabled.
***Based on internal test results compared to a Samsung external HDD 1TB(HX-MTD10EA). Test system configuration: ASUS Z370 ROG MAXIMUS X APEX (USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C), Intel Core i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz(Coffeelake), OS-Windows 10 RS6.
****Based on an internal free fall shock test conducted under controlled conditions.
†Software requires Windows 7 and higher, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher, or Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher. Older versions of the Windows, Mac, and Android operating systems may not be supported.
††Firmware update requires PC or Mac and internet connection. Android app available on Google Play.

Edit: Amazon sent me a replacement and I no longer have these thermal issues with my Macs.
I really wanted to like this (the 2TB model) but it's unreliable. I may try it again after Samsung has fixed the bugs, but for now I'll be returning it soon. I tried Samsung's support and it routed me down a road to nowhere, so I'm done.
The good: It's really fast when it works. Things like copying enormous file folders to and from it seem fine.
The unacceptable: Downloading multiple file streams to it from the Internet results in the drive just hanging for seconds at a time. Eventually, it wakes up, but this repeats again and again. I also have the T3 and T5 and they don't have this problem.
In case anyone at Samsung is listening:
I installed the setup software on a Mac and set a password and 4 fingerprints. I also updated it to the latest firmware. I left the filesystem as it was out of the box (exfat) The machine I actually use it on is a Chromebook, specifically the Google Pixelbook (original, not the Go).
I exchanged it for the same model and the replacement has the same issue. I have to decide now whether I want to keep it in the hopes that Samsung fixes the bug or give up on the T7 and get a T5 instead. Samsung, I'm not your beta tester, but I'll be happy to submit a detailed report of the problem if you give me an easy way to do that.
It's worse than I thought. The drive essentially shuts down sporadically even while just playing a video file stored on it. That makes it only good for file backup. I can't believe this thing made it to market, how did they even test it?
Update: Either this SSD has bugs or was received damaged. It has issues loading stuff thoroughly on forza horizon. Cannot effectively play with this issue. It'll get stuck in loading screens as well as not load maps fully so it'll show no road or land around you.
Another really annoying thing I noticed was when beginning an online match in ranked team racing, right when you are able to start driving, at like the 5 second mark the entire screen pauses for like 2 seconds so if you are turning during that pause, it is virtually impossible to not crash or fly off the road. This happens in 80%+ races I begin online. Truly thrown off about this issue as I was expecting a beefed up version of the t5 ssd. Will return and stick with the T5 SSD for now until the bugs get worked out. Very dissapointed
But when I installed on my mc pro only the storage work fine ..
Not the finger reader ...
It keeps saying plug in ssd hard drive ....
When it's all ready connected....
So I called Amazon for help they did and reached out to Samsung seller ...
And said it should work on mc pro...
They said return ssd hard drive back and replace for another one....
I did and they replace ..
Still didn't work😥
I hope they can up date the software before they lose business....
Fix it Samsung and I will take this review off..
Pros: Very fast
Fingerprint is convenient
Comes with high quality cables
Cons: Fingerprint takes a few seconds to read finger, its not like a phone.
Overall very happy with the device. Speed is great, and you don't unlock the device 100x a day like your phone, so the slower fingerprint reading is not as big of an issue.

The bottom line is that if you're planning on using the SSD with your computer only, then the finger scanner tech is a neat security feature. If you're planning on connecting it to multiple Macs, then I suggest you opt for Mac's native password encryption which works across Macs. Your third option is to leave it as is without any password encryption :)
Not 100% certain about this, but I do suspect that it drains camera batteries a little faster to keep that blue light on where the fingerprint sensor is. So something to be aware of if you use it for cameras. You may need an extra battery or an AC power adapter. In the limited use I have of the T7, it did appear to drain the FP battery faster.
