Great 4K player at a very resonable price.

Received the player and had it setup in 15 minutes.
At first I was disappointed in a 4k disc I played as it wasn't any better than a regular Blu-ray movie. I am using the HDCP 2.2 HDMI cables.
Read the instructions which recommend to upgrade the software on both my Samsung TV and the 4K player.
I did that, played the same movie and what a difference, I have an excellent picture now. Can definitely see it's 4K.
Be sure to do the updates before playing the first 4K movie. I didn't and wasted 45 minutes trying to figure out why my picture wasn't what it should be.

Upgraded from 2012 Panasonic BDR. This new model is compact; has very quick and easy-to-use apps for Amazon and Netflix. The remote is simple and effective. The unit handles disks well. No long pauses in transitions at the top menu between disk and network functions: seamless, actually. It "just worked" with my DLNA setup, which is running from a home server on Linux Mint minidlna (the claim that it would do so is why I bought it, and it fulfills the claim). It finds the server quickly; was transparently compatible with some home video mkv files, not transcoded--no more "can't play" messages. Again, all this is documented--that's why I bought it. Although it wants a login and account for "apps," I skipped that, and it is not needed for the basic apps like Amazon and Netflix--something they should tell you before asking you to create an account, but hey, that's just business these days.

In sum, I will replace my two Oppo 103's with these. They are faster, easier to use, and much more functional on the streaming side than dedicated streamers, yet at the same time require less privacy-invading setup. (Android boxes, I'm looking at you.)

Excellent picture, terrible remote, and sound issues

We purchased this product in December of last year. We're already on our second unit due as the first wouldn't play a disk after the 1st week. The second unit had issues with the remote, and a replacement remote fixed the issues. Just contacted Samsung today, as we're experiencing sound issues (sound going in and out). I heard so many excuses over the phone I was shocked. It's your disk, please unplug and reconnect all the cords. I shared that all of this was done prior to our call, and then they couldn't pull up the serial number. I offer to upload this, but I have to eFax this. I thought I was dealing with a technology company? They'd like to have me take this to a technician. Worst customer support I've EVER experienced!

Great video quality with HDR

Works as promised. Hooked it up to my Samsung UHD TV and I have 65 inches of UHD bliss! Really a much better picture than 1080p bluray.
The HDR color also makes a big difference. I notice it in the Ultra HD bluray discs that I have. Works well. Don't let the lack of a front display discourage you, I have not missed it at all.
It does upscale the 1080p discs also, but they are not as good as UHD. But... they are still better than they were! I have a 5 year old 1080p receiver and have no wish to upgrade it at this time, so I can't enjoy the better sound quality these discs provide. I have the player plugged directly to the TV and an optical digital cable returning sound to the receiver so that I can enjoy the better video quality. Got a really good price here on Amazon right before Christmas. Thanks Amazon.

I am revising my review down to 4 stars. I failed to understand that this player does not support Dolby Atmos sound. My fault for not seeing that right away, but I have been trying for over a month to figure out why my new receiver and my new 4K tv work so well but I can't get to the Dolby Atmos on my nice new 4K discs. It's the player folks. Just so you know, if you want the Atmos feature like I did, don't buy this product. It works well for all the other good 4K qualities.

I just purchased a Samsung UHD TV (6 Series) before Christmas and decided to get this model Blu-Ray player to complement it. My last Blu-Ray player was about 10 years old and one of the things I always hated about Blu-Ray was the time it takes to load the discs. I was really impressed to see how they have improved over this period of time because this player loads discs in about 5-7 seconds. The quality of my older movies look fantastic on this player/TV combination so I am excited to watch some of the older titles again.

I bought one for a gift and one for myself. Don't mind the lack of wifi because everything else I have is wifi enabled, and I don't plan to stream through this device. Good price, easy to install. Having a USB port for viewing files on a memory stick is a plus and perfect for my mother who has trouble with most of her devices. This is an easy one to use, even for her.

I may have received a defective unit. The player randomly shuts off on the middle of playback. Also, the firmware for this unit has a ton of bloatware that cannot be removed. That's not as big a deal as it can be ignored, but the random shut downs can't be.
