I got this TV to replace a 32 inch Polaroid branded HDTV that had it's backlighting unexpectadly die on me after around 8 years of dedicated service.

What I can tell you the reader is that as usual with these Samsung TV's the picture is phenomenal and utterly justifies the high price of these sets.

What is also a benefit of this 2014 TV is that unlike my much larger 60 inch Samsung HDTV Smart TV that I've got in another room it doesn't possess my 2012 model's low buzzing sound which is a plus if that sort of thing annoys you.

Typically it is said that the preferred viewing option for most people with Samsung Smart TV's is setting the TV to it's "Dynamic" option which makes the picture brighter. I would agree that it does exactly that and it adds to the set's vibrancy though most will also argue that by having the TV on this setting it could very well take some years off the life of the backlighting mechanism. Oh well I say. Its up to each individual person whether they want arguably the best visual experience during the life of the set which again is arguably the "Dynamic" setting or whether they want to play it safe so as to try and extend the life of the TV on a lower quality setting such as Standard, Natural or Movie.

Anyway if memory serves correctly this TV has a ton of HD ports...well ok 4 to be precise but I'd say thats plenty for hooking up game consoles, Blu Ray players or whatever else you might desire.

The sound quality is excellent out of the box but if you're an extreme audiophile you may disagree and desire to go either the sound bar option or the full Home Theater route ala Dolby Digital 5.0 setup and satellite speakers + receiver.

The TV is thin, light, aesthetically beautiful and easy to set up.

Not much more one could want in a 40 inch HDTV I'd say.

I just got this TV before Christmas and have been enjoying it daily during the holiday season! I got it because it was rated number 1 in its size category (40-43 inches) by Consumer Reports last month -- and because the reviews on its 3D performance convinced me that it would be similar to a theatrical experience. I have not been disappointed at all. The only problem I have with it is it is best to keep the voice function off because you keep getting verbal reminders that the input signal is weak on some channels. Keep the voice function off and you will be fine. The clarity and color have astonished me, and at this size I can read everything -- including the closed captions -- easily from anywhere in my living room. Do be careful when you put the 3D glasses (two are included) together so as not to put the left arm on the right nor the right arm on the left. You could break the arms if you do not pay close attention to the diagrams provided with the glasses. They work really well after you power them on and are comfortable to me. Got Christmas money to spend on a new TV? I recommend this one without hesitation!

The television is great. However, I am probably different than other buyers. My last television was a Samsung and I had it for eight years. I had one major problem with that t.v. though, the t.v. would heat up my room anywhere from 5-7 degrees! This new t.v. does not heat up my room at all!! I love the picture and the software but the main reason that I bought it was the heat factor. The other t.v. was still working just fine but I could not take the heat any longer. This t.v. has one of the best pictures that I have ever seen!!

This is a wonderful TV, with many, many features. There are literally hundreds of custom settings you can experiment with. I downloaded some
settings from various tech sites like CNet and have never found a bad review. Out of the box, most people will be happy with the factory settings: it is very bright with beautiful color. But the set really comes alive in a low-light setting at lower brightness settings and a few tweaks. If you want to take the plunge, my advice is to start by lowering the brightness of the LED backlight to somewhere between 10 and 20 on the scale, and set the contrast at around 90. Then adjust saturation and the colors will pop. But don't go overboard, or the picture will look like the cheap brands that the big-box stores push. Remember, comparing pictures on a wall at the store is useless: the stores deliberately tweak the models they are pushing. They make these adjustments according to the profit margin they can make on each model. Besides, the salespeople have been brainwashed into muttering nonsense, counting on your ignorance. I never went to a store to see this model; I did my homework online with professional bench tests and feature comparisons.

I picked the 40-inch because it's the perfect size for my small apartment living room. A 46-inch would have been hazardous. The 6400 series is not available in sizes smaller than 40. Go to the Samsung website to look at all the screen sizes in this series.

There are features that you expect on a high-end set such as this: full LED backlight rather than edge-lit, with local dimming.
