We gave a 3G Samsung chromebook as a gift and we are being told that to use the 3G you must buy a 2 year phone contract. Isn't this false advertising

My Chromebook(Samsung) does not have a phone so u should not sign a phone contact.

Erm... you don't need to sign a contract to use the built-in VZW 3G. This should be obvious if you follow the steps to register your Chromebook for the 2 years of 100MB/month free 3G.

You can *also* pre-pay month-to-month to get a *larger* amount of 3G data.
