In chapter 12, Azami does this ritual bath for Sam, it takes up the whole chapter and I just kind of skimmed through it the first time, wanting to get it over with, but this time I took my time with it and really read through it and it’s actually quite beautiful. Am I saying that this bath needed the whole chapter? No, the readers don’t really need to read about every little thing but, it is quite beautiful.
And even though it was just a brief mention, it said something about feet and I guess I just kind of shut it out at that point the first time.
Now, after the beginning it does slow down quite a bit, a bunch of talking ensues and while it’s mildly interesting, it seemed most of the time was spent with the team.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this team and I want a book for Ian. Also, I loved that hilarious story they told Azami about a mission they went on and I did love seeing more of Daniel and learning a bit about his abilities however, I do wish that Sam and Azami had spent a little more alone time together. I feel like the book needed more of the romance factor instead of just telling the readers that they were in each others head.
The action was very subtle and while that worked in Murder Game, I think it needed just a little more action in this story. It just didn’t seem to flow all that smoothly. There were only about three instances of fighting and those were very brief.
Another part of me wonders what it would feel like to be a female Ghostwalker? To be completely confident in my ability to protect not just myself but also those that I love, seems to be an awesome way to be and remain feminine. I loved this GHOSTWALKER # 10. I really do hate Dr. Whitney and was excited to see his ending coming. I felt bloodthirsty and found myself grinning when he seemed so vulnerable. If for no other reason, you must read this book and find out what happens to Whitney when he is seen in a restaurant.
You will find most of my reviews of Ghostwalker novels are a #4. The simple reason for that is that these books would be much better with less erotica. Each of us have our own ideas of what would be a love scene. I would much rather be dreaming up my own personal idea of what loving my man would be like. Too many pages are taken up by sexual description that has become redundant and boring to me. I often skim through most of those encounters. Allowing these men to be romantic, each in their own way, would be much better. What could they dream up to show their love in other ways. Ah well, Ms. Feehan does a fantastic job writing these novels and coming up with fresh ideas.
I believe that "Samurai" is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this book to mature adults. "VIPER" is the next book and WOW, another great book. Don't miss "SAMURAI OR VIPER", you will really enjoy the intrigue and more Whitney mayhem.
KUDOS Ms. Feehan on another great novel about GHOSTWALKERS".
As is my way, I skipped some pages of sex. It seems go be almost mere filler, and distracts me from the pieces index to escape reality. I found the battles better than usual. I'm waiting for the next book. The only thing wrong is that I will probably pay way too much for it.
Also quit giving explanations/definitions of terms & abbreviations in the middle of the story. The writing & story line doesn't flow well that way. Instead just put a page of definitions, explanations, etc at the end of the book for reference.
The great long explanations of sex tend to be long winded and repetitious. One or 2 longer scenes are fine but it really gets old fast....it's just adding padding and doesn't help with the storyline at all. Compared to the writing of the 1st few Ghostwalker books this one is lacking. I liked the storyline and would like more detail about the people with less fluffy mush. They are supposed to all be war hardened, enhanced soldiers but they talk & dance around like prissy little girls a lot when they tell of their love & need for each other! This part made me think there are too many fingers in the pie, trying to tell the story.
I liked the story, the characters, and the plots but get rid of the extras. They don't suit the Ghostwalkers. Spend more time working on the downfall of Whitney & his cohorts. How they manage to survive, and work as a team.
I'm waiting for the next book out but please leave out the superfluous chatter(writing) and put in more detail of who they are, what they are and why they are.
