I needed one of these for PVC nametags at work. I found one on Staples.com for nearly $50 (!) Found this one on Amazon for just over $10, including Prime shipping. It arrived the next day, and it's perfect. Feels sturdily built, it's metal and heavy. I can't speak to how well it will hold up over time, but I didn't need something that would punch slots in a million cards. This one should do very nicely.

This tool punches a perfect slot in an ID badge so you can hang it on a lanyard or other type of holder. Be careful when choosing where to punch for badges that contain reader chips embedded. I use a really bright flashlight held against the back of the badge while I view the front of the badge. This provides almost an x-ray view of what is hidden inside the badge. The small lines running around are antennae for the chip so be sure to avoid those or the badge might cease to function.

The punch is good, but its hole was too big for use with vertical blinds which was my intention. It appears to be good quality. if the hole was a bit smaller, it would have met my need.

I would not recommend purchasing for use to make vertical blind holes. I would recommend purchasing to make these types of holes in many other applications.

It is not the punch's fault that it did not meet my need; the punch appears to be good quality.
