About the Author

Edmund Tijerina is the most trusted food and restaurant expert in San Antonio, and his recommendations for restaurant goers and home cooks set the agenda for dining in South Texas. He currently writes about food and restaurants for San Antonio Magazine, Rio magazine, and his own blog, SanAntoniosBestRestaurants.com. Previously, his writing anchored the Taste section of the San Antonio Express-News, and propelled the section to top honors in its class for seven years in a row from the Association of Food Journalists. That organization also honored him with Best Newspaper Feature and runner-up as Best Newspaper Restaurant Critic. His writing has appeared online in the Huffington Post, First We Feast and Eater, and an essay he wrote about Mexican American identity and the Alamo was reprinted the college textbook American Voices. His journalism career began in South Texas after graduating from Harvard with a degree in philosophy and later graduated from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. An internship at the Chicago Tribune and a reporting job at the Milwaukee Journal and Journal Sentinel followed. While in Milwaukee, he left journalism and worked as chef/owner of his own restaurant. He lives and cooks for his wife and son in San Antonio.
